Re: Nibbana under the effect of ayahuasca

I think that it is important to add to this discussion the idea that it is not necessary to take Ayahuasca.

Re: Favorite Dhammapada Verse

Phenomena are preceded by the heart, ruled by the heart, made of the heart. If you speak or act with a corrupted heart, then suffering follows you — as the wheel of the cart, the track of the ox that pulls it. Phenomena are preceded by the heart, ruled by the heart, made of the heart. If you speak ...

Re: Favorite Dhammapada Verse

I always like the first verse. This is Thanissaro Bhikkhu's translation from Access to Insight. http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/kn/dhp/dhp.intro.than.html Phenomena are preceded by the heart, ruled by the heart, made of the heart. If you speak or act with a corrupted heart, then suffering fo...

Re: Fearless Mountain Documentary Film

Have you tried contacting the monastery to ask about the film? If it's about Abhayagiri it seems possible that someone there could help you find a way to see the film. How could I not think about this! I'll try this, anumodana culaavuso! :) Please let me know if they lead you somewhere to watch the...

Dhp XXII

From Dhp XXII pt. 316 translated by Archarya Buddharakkhita - http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/kn/dhp/dhp.22.budd.html 316. Those who are ashamed of what they should not be ashamed of, and are not ashamed of what they should be ashamed of — upholding false views, they go to states of woe. I a...

Re: Engaged Buddhism - Action Vs Seclusion?

If we are to consider the meaning as you suggest can you talk a bit about "the nature of the condition in which all humans find themselves living" and how it relates to the topic of this thread? chownah I don't think that we should really consider the meaning I suggested. I only wanted to offer a d...

Re: Engaged Buddhism - Action Vs Seclusion?

Nobody can change the world. Hi, Jabali, I have got to say you are wrong. Everybody changes the world, with every action they take... Kim, I read jabali's statement as "Nobody can change Samsara." I didn't think it was a statement about the absence of causal relationships in our lives, but rather a...

Re: Who can reject a person from Buddhism?

I also agree with what tilt said. I want to adamantly support the first statement, "No one, and no." Absolutely no on has this power and unless it is of one's own volition, you can't be "banned" from Buddhism altogether.
