Re: Rage Against the Machine UK christmas no 1

Haha, I bought it! It was nice to see rock fans get a voice in the UK again, but I doubt it will be for long. They'll probably end up with the record for the fastest drop out of the Top 100 for a no. 1 single.

I feel for Joe McElderry a bit but he'll probably be top next week anyway.

Re: A suicide after a break-up

I don't have too much to add except that, I went through a bout of depression myself a few years back and I think in a way, I had some sort of perverse enjoyment out of being miserable. If I ever admitted my feelings to others and they offered advice, I was unwilling to take it on board and instead ...

Re: The Beatles

Today is 8th December, the 29th anniversary of the senseless murder of John Lennon. Not much that can be said that hasn't already been said one-thousand times before about Lennon, but I will have a bit of a Beatles/Lennon marathon of music today! Nowhere Boy , a biopic about Lennon's teenage life, i...

Re: World Cup 2010

Thanks Perry. I'll print it out and give it to my son this morning. He is a mad fan of the Aussie Socceroos. Though I see they are up against Germany in Durban in their first match. metta Chris Yeah, once again Australia have been lumped into a very tough group. With the Germans just edging it, I'd...

Re: World Cup 2010

Hi Perry, Thanks for that update. I forget, is it the top 2 from each group that advance to the next round? The U.S. vs. England? Uh oh, looks like the U.S. may be doomed. Hi David, it is indeed the top two, and I wouldn't be too downhearted about the USA's chances. My prediction is a comfortable f...

Re: The Beatles

Saw the Beatles live at the Convention Center in Atlantic City, NJ, in August 1964. I was 11 years old, and my father, bless him, took me, his ears plugged with cotton. After the first chord, you couldn't hear a thing for all the screaming. It was wonderful. Wow! I bet that was special! Were I ther...

Re: Why I don't watch the news...

I absolutely adore Charlie Brooker, it might be worth checking out his columns on The Guardian website for some good old-fashioned criticism of the media.

Yoko Ono

This song is probably one of my all-time favourites, it sounds so fragile that it could break if you listen to it too hard!
