Re: First "peak experience"

I went to the regular service at the Vipassana Center today and enjoyed it. After the sitting, there was a Dhamma talk/socialization. It was nice to hear and talk about things I've been reading and practicing. Turns out my instincts on how to proceed were pretty much on target. Being something of a ...

First "peak experience"

Hi everyone, and sorry for the long post. But I'd like some feedback and some suggestions relating to an experience I had about a month ago. I just got Kornfield's book, "After the Ecstasy, the Laundry," where he talks about "peak experience" and what comes after. That led me to do some Googling and...

Re: "Practice"

Likely because I am new to the path, my practice seems best defined as Dhamma and discipline. I found I need to put some structure in my days if I want to study and meditate each day. Since I retired, I've done things pretty much as I chose to. Forgetting that I wanted to do a particular thing was n...

But I've worked with abuse victims (and perps), and have not seen the wide conspiracy of the laity that you did. The...

Re: Monk Police in Thailand

Lay members of the Catholic Church and many in the general public were well aware of the corruption within the Church for decades before scandals finally started getting media attention. The belief that priests and the church were beyond criticism resulted in an absence of public dialogue which in ...

Hi everyone :)

I've been practicing just a short time and am glad to find a place to discuss Theravada. I lean toward the less complex, less esoteric, and have been more comfortable with sutta than with other texts.

Looking forward to learning from you all.
