Recently there have been a number of studies published and I am just wondering if anyone is up to date on all this - I just haven't got the time (or access) to read the vast amount of materials out...

Re: Who is your favorite great disciple?

Who is your favorite disciple of the Buddha'? I would have to say Angulimala. A mass murderer who turned his life around upon hearing the Dhamma. My favorite part of the Angulimala Sutta: Then the robber Angulimala spoke this verse to the Blessed One: 'While walking the recluse says "I have stopped...

Re: Buddha's skin colour

Hi there. According to the Pali Canon, the historical Buddha is said to have "Blue Eyes". We can still find blue/green eyes amongst Northern Indians today. Few samples: If you accept the literal word of the 32 marks (and there is no indication to do so according to the Pali Canon), then the color i...

Re: Captions needed for the Pictorial Biography of Buddha

Not really to my taste. They aren't to my taste either. To me they look like an attempt to "Krishna-ize" the Buddha. I'm surprised that they didn't try to depict him holding a flute while they were at it... These pictures look more similar to Hindu art than to Buddhist art to me. Shakyamuni Buddha'...
