MN 19 says too MUCH thinking tires the body. If you keep stubbornly clinging to your wrong views, you're never going to get it. the last part of the word 'upama' is probably from opama, the pali word for simile. it would help if you cite the sutta number and show more of the passage. is that from the famous 5 similes for the 5 aggregates? if so, i think marici is the one corresponding to perceptions aggregate, so perceptions...
