Audio recordings of Pali Suttas chanted

I'm really excited that we've recently started releasing audio recordings of Pali suttas chanted in Pali by a Sri Lankan monk. These recordings are excellent quality, and the monk intends to record many more. Links to the recordings are here: http://www.audtip.org/ The first batch is filed under Nov...

saṃyutta nikāya in .mobi and .epub

Dear pāḷi friends, I made a version of saṃyutta nikāya derived from the 5 vaggos of cst4, all jammed into one file, renumbered into the modern system. Lots of hyperlinks, easy to navigate and get to the SN sutta you're looking for. a link to the file here https://sites.google.com/site/frankkpublic/s...

Re: Audio recording of Dhammapada in Pali?

A link to Venerable Nauyane Ariyadhamma Maha Swaminwahanse chanting Dhammapada in Pali on this page: http://www.audtip.org/home/kn/kn-dhp Another great resource is an email list that I'm subscribed to that sends out a short dhamma verse every day with pali text, english translation, and audio, often...

Re: Dhamma Books in the ePub ebook Format

I made a mobi version of [Digha Nikaya # 2], so you can see why I'm excited about touch screens and dhamma reference material converted into useful ebook formats that are easily navigable.

Re: Dhamma Books in the ePub ebook Format

James, How were you able to convert the ATI tipitaka section with calibre? I just tried doing that with the december 2011 local pc version of ATI from the index.html on the tipitaka subdir, calibre wouldn't even read it in. I want to do the conversion for the ATI vinaya section and make that into mo...

Re: How do you use audio sutta recordings?

Thanks for the encouragement Morning Mist. I also like to listen to audio suttas when doing yoga between meditation session, or hiking, or a long car trip.

Re: How do you use audio sutta recordings?

We're steadily producing new sutta recordings at http://www.audtip.org/ . Ven. Ānandajoti recorded many important long suttas (of his own translations from the Pali) dealing with meditation here http://www.ancient-buddhist-texts.net/Audio/AU-index.htm . And suttareadings.net has a nice collection of...

audtip.org podcast every saturday

Every Saturday morning, we have a podcast of a sutta reading from the tipitaka. The sutta selected will be at least 10 min long. To subscribe to the podcast, go to http://www.audtip.org/ , and near the bottom of the left hand column navigation bar you'll see an orange icon and RSS feed podcast subsc...

Re: Reading the suttas is fun!

Wow, there's too many instances and too many suttas to name. I hardly know where to start. An interesting new thing I learned lately, in MN 23, where a non-returner Brahma being approaches Kumara Kassapa and gives him 10 riddles that only the Buddha can explain. It's not in the suttas itself, but th...

Re: How do you use audio sutta recordings?

My favorite thing about listening to audio suttas is I can listen to it on a portable mp3 player while walking outside, breathing fresh open air, feeling the sunshine, doing walking meditation/contemplation of dhamma. As opposed to reading the same sutta, I'd be sitting on a desk, breathing (relativ...

Re: New Sutta Readings at AudTip.com

Greetings Dhamma friends, First I wanted to let everyone know that http://audtip.org (rather than audtip.com) is what we're going by now. For those who head to audtip.com main page it redirects automatically to audtip.org. The question I have for those of you who listen to audio suttas, whether it b...

For an interesting view on eating from the Buddha, see MN 3 http://www.suttacentral.net/disp_sutta.php?division_id=2&collection_name=Pali&division_name=Majjhima%20Nik%C4%81ya&type=Division&division_acronym=MN" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Basically of those 2 monks, he praised the o...

Re: sixth precept and percentage of a monk's day

Hi all, I think it really depends on our lifestyles and activity evel (even for a monastic) that determines what the optimal diet and frequency of eating should be. If the diet is omnivorous and rich and nutrients, or lacto ovo vegetarian, I've found that for me eating breakfast and lunch and skippi...
