Re: Can I start practising on my own?

It seems everybody here understand practice as meditation. And meditation is of course an important aspect of practice. But there are also other aspects. Friendlyness is an important part of practice. And you do not need a teacher in order to practice friendlyness and good friendship. Anyone can sta...

Sounds great Kare, I see your work is also on Sutta Central, e.g.: https://suttacentral.net/no/mn1 :anjali: Mike Thank you, Mike. I found the sutta following your link. But when I go to Sutta Central and look for it, I can not find it. So how did you navigate to find my translation at the Sutta Cen...

Tipitaka texts in Norwegian

I have just finished translating the Itivuttaka. So now my complete translations Digha Nikaya, Majjhima Nikaya, Dhammapada, Suttanipata, Udana and Itivuttaka are published at my web site, with excerpts also from the other Nikayas. I suppose the Samyutta Nikaya is next in line, but that will probably...

Re: Dhamma's not dead

Hi and welcome! If I were you, however, I would do something with the Devanagari font at the "Evam me sutam" site. As it stands now, it says: "Shavaakhahaa.tao bahaaghaavaa.tao dhahaamamao". I do not really believe that this what you meant to write. :anjali:

Re: Is Nibbana and Tathagatha the same?

Tathāgata = tathā + gata = thus gone 3. Tathāgata = tatha + āgata = (to) the truth (reality) come (arrived) It is a very stran...

Re: Mulapariyaya Sutta

I once had a conversation with a Western monk in Bangkok. He said that in his view the Mahasatipatthanasutta and the Mulapariyayasutta were the two most important suttas in the Tipitaka. The Mahasatipatthanasutta describes the method, the practice. The Mulapariayasutta describes the result. I tend t...
