The 12 Steps and the Dhamma

For those who can hear it, this series of talks about the self and the 12 steps are imo very good.

Re: Outrageous Propaganda from the Meat Industry

Our action should be based on much higher noble motives than protecting land or the environment etc. I can not conceive of a higher or more noble motive than protecting the environment. Each of us and we our individual selves are that environment. What is this higher more noble motive you speak of?

Re: Computer problem and recommendations

I have a dell optiplex 745 with a pentium d dual processor. It was new in about 2006 i would guess. The description said it might have a scuff or scratch or two, but it had none that i could find. I bought it refurbished on amazon for around 150$, maybe 2-3 years ago. Added some ram and a geforce an...

Dependent origination isn't intended as an ontological or philosophical statement.

Re: Deepak chopra vs richard dawkins?

The crux of this thing is that Dawkins philosophy is objective and is a fine expedient if you want to fix a watch or design a nuclear power plant. Chopras ideology, like buddhism, is subjective, happens in the mind, is meant to explore a different realm and is about meaning. You cant have one withou...

Just to let you know DW has been, for a few days now, under assualt from a fair number of individuals in Russia and former Soviet countries, who want to sell us porn and ED pills. Fortunately, we have been doing our best to keep this offending material out of sight and blocking the offending msgs f...

Its not that atoms have consciousness, they are consciousness, just as is everything else.
