Re: Health benefits of a wholefoods plant-based diet

Dieticians and nutritionist are health care professionals. All health care professionals - at least formally - are doctors/physicians (with an exception to less qualified personnel, like nurses). In most of the world a dietician is in the first place a doctor/physician. Great, I learned something n...

Re: Health benefits of a wholefoods plant-based diet

In order to be a healthy vegetarian you should always be in contact with your doctors - "it is the position of the American Dietetic Association": "It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are heal...

Re: There's blood in your milk. The ethics of consumption

I think, yes, it is ethical. Actually, I like meat and don't see any problem here. Calf meat is so delicious. The irony is I don't like milk and diary products :) If you are worried about this practice I may suggest that you might think about it as only a temporary measure: very soon, perhaps in a ...

Re: judgment-free awareness

why do you think this is the context? Are you a psychic, who knows what is on everyone's mind here? Or, may be, you only know what is on your mind? Can you prove that what you think is the context is the context for everyone here? Hi sphairos The context of the original quotes (in the OP). Don't yo...

Re: judgment-free awareness

Mr Man , why should one practice "within the discipline and the tradition" and consider that - and no other thing - to be the context? Who says that? Hi sphairos That is the context from which Ajahn Chah taught and Ajahn Munindo teaches. Their teaching/insight comes from practicing and living in a ...

Re: The Path of Purification: Visuddhimagga

"but it's not a matter of just a few seconds to correct a whole passage containing Pāḷi words". Why? It is for me. By the way, what whole passages do you mean? In the ven. Ñāṇamoli's translation there are almost no passages in Pāḷi, and those which are there are tiny. It's really a matter of seconds...

Re: The Path of Purification: Visuddhimagga

There's also a problem when copying content: e.g. the text copied to the clipboard is "a frog (maóðúka)" instead of "a frog (maṇḍūka). Dear bhante, yes, unfortunately it's also the case in Adobe Reader. But I have a brilliant "Pāli keyboard" feature http://tipitaka.org/keyboard/ (which I also use f...

Re: The Path of Purification: Visuddhimagga

There probably is no version with Unicode characters. I don't quite understand what problem you get while using this file. You can just type words without diacritics. For instance, "brahmavihara". It perfectly finds the needed "brahmavihāra". Hi could you tell me where you can type the words? It do...

Dear bhante,

I have a WinXP Professional x64 system and CST4 works perfectly for me.

Do you have the required version of the Microsoft .NET Framework? You can get it here:

Re: judgment-free awareness

perhaps it's worth mentioning in this context that judgment-free awareness is the very core of the modern MBSR-therapy (and the like, of course, which are many these days): Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; On purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally (Jon Kabat-Zinn)...
