Dan, I think it's a reasonable guess and I'd tend to agree with that interpretation. I think people like Ajahn Chah and Buddhadasa would too. Thanks for the links. Chris, I can't read the responses if there are any. I know Thanissaro maintains that non-dual positions, regarding the distinction between samsara and nibbana, are unfounded in the tipitaka. Of course, there is no positive articulation of this sort of non-dualism in the canon. ...

move to asia, teach english, take time off, travel, live in monasteries etc. that's what i do/will do for a while. there's always funded post-grad work.
u could get an m.a. or something in ling (applied ling?) and teach in the universities in asia (and get more $)

what i like best about mahayana is its rejection of ontology i.e. metaphysics. the section on attamayata is great. i'd check the index to see what's interesting to you. metta
