Re: Debts

Bankrupcy may not be something that happened in the time of the Buddha.
I personally don't know about the implications of this, but will ask my Abbot if he has an answer and will get back at a later time.

Re: What is this?

What does it mean with observing objects of insight meditation? All mental and physical phenomena are valid objects for insight meditation. When the stage of knowledge of dissolution is reached the object known and the mind that knows it both disappear in very rapid succession. Whereas at earlier s...

Re: A video of my friends ordination.

I would guess your friend is around 50? Is it common for men that age to ordain for life, or at retirement age? Almost unheard of here in Japan, as far as I know... For some men here in Thailand, this is a time when they can ordain long term. The children have finished school and the financial needs ...

Re: How do you know you are ready to ordain for life?

I been wanting to ordain for quit awhile now, but when I ordain I what to be a monk for the rest of my life. Re: Music, lay life, and monastic life

I'd like to know the reason music is often censured for monastics, and why this isn't carried over to lay life? I've heard that music can be distracting in meditation and can change and move emotions. Is that the reason for it not being permitted for a monastic, and does this carry over for a laype...
