Re: the great rebirth debate

" then perhaps there is necessity to define previously what ...

Re: the great rebirth debate

In the suttas, the word "jati" appears to be something literally mental. Therefore, the notion of "literal rebirth" appears to be a misnomer. I discussed this once with Dinsdale, who I recall came to see & momentarily conceded the logic in my explanation. But then Dinsdale resisted my Dhamma transm...

Oh it’s very much grounded in real life experience. Secular “Buddhism” is a cesspit of wrong views.
I'm surprised, I didn't realise there were lots of "Secular Buddhists" in your part of the country!

Speculative and critical comments about others you've never even met seem to abound in this topic, and it doesn't make good reading .

Re: the great rebirth debate

Strange he has this view of rebirth...... Strange also that you have changed your own view on rebirth, ceiswar, considering that for several years you always posted firmly against it both here and at my own website, under a different user name! This whiffs of the “social justice with min...

Re: the great rebirth debate

Sounds like a secular humanist with a heavy interest in Buddhism. "Gil Fronsdal is the co-teacher at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, California and the Insight Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, California. He has been teaching since 1990. Gil has practiced Zen and Vipassana since 1975 an...

That's rather a jaded outlook, not everyone else's experience is the same as yours! My late grandparents were devoted to each other and (according to my mother) they also had a good sex life.

Re: Positive Sexual Practice beyond Unwholesome Roots

I observe the problems people have because of sex that's enough for me to always avoid sex People don't always have problems because of sex. I know of several happily married couples who are also good, caring people. [The Blessed One said:] "If both husband & wife want to see one another not only i...
