Re: Anatta and Dukkha

No. Citta is the part of mind shaped by karmic imprinting (habitual tendencies and intuitive knowledge).

How there is rebirth if there is no one to be rebirthed after first path attainment?.
Through karmic imprints. The power of preceding causes still has a foothold within the citta.

Re: Anatta and Dukkha

I have no desire to beat this dead horse further. If by you, you mean something that is dependently arisen then fine.

The entire chain of DO is illusory from ignorance to contact to birth. All of it is unreal and illusory.

Re: Anatta and Dukkha

If all is dependently arisen from causes and conditions, then there is nothing that can be said to ultimately exist. Not even suffering exists, let alone a thing called a self. The path is the grounds of realization for developing the aptitude for sunyata.

Re: I'm not satisfied with my meditation.

I have been meditating for many years although my efforts have not been consistent. I have schizophrenia and am on anti psychotics for that. Would this effect my ability to access samadhi potentially? Most likely no. Meditate at a particular time in the morning after you wake and before you sleep. ...

Re: Why the wealthiest person not buddhist ?

If most buddhist aspire for liberation , would them still spend time going after present life wealth ? Why do you think out of ten , seven countries that has the highest ranking of reserve gasoline or petrol were Islamic countries ? I'm sure wealthy sotapannas exist, just like there are Buddhists w...

Re: Why the wealthiest person not buddhist ?

Because buddhists are bad clients. Detachment, non-greed, simple way of life, etc. Buddhism goes agains capitalism. This could be the reason . I doubt it. Anathapindika was a capitalist. Anyone who controls their own revenue stream is a capitalist. Why do so many so called Buddhists hate capitalism...

Re: Are Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha a product of Mara?

In fact the story of Tanha Rathi Ranga daughters of mara represnts desire & lust or loba dosa moha which weredriven away by lord buddha. I understand what you are trying to get at it. Perhaps the name "mara" is the product of Buddha. But Loba, Dosa, and Moha were there before Buddha's enlightenment...

Re: Why Buddhism is not growing?

I prefer the slow, sure, strong growth of the bodhi tree. Something magic about being in the middle of nowhere, when there is nothing to do but strive, surrounded by trees distant from cities, where time itself slows. https://chandrashekharasandprints.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/bodhigayatemplepaint...

Re: mindfulness and awareness

Sure: “Sisters, suppose a skilled butcher or his apprentice were to kill a cow and carve it up with a sharp butcher’s knife. Without damaging the inner mass of flesh and without damaging the outer hide, he would cut, sever, and carve away the inner tendons, sinews, and ligaments with the sharp butch...

Re: mindfulness and awareness

Dukkha does not necessarily mean suffering. That is just a modality of dukkha due to lack of wisdom. Ordinary people often rejoice in sleep because it provides much needed rest whereas arahants are free to rest without needing sleep. Consciousness might be dukkha but it doesn't necessarily have to b...

Re: Physical Food as Nutriment

Question , The four nutriments is for contemplation , to cut it off at the roots the attachment . If one translate ahara as edible food , the other three somehow is non materiality ie contact , volition and consciousness . Therefore , do you think is it reasonable to regard it as edible food ? Than...

Re: Physical Food as Nutriment

Buddha was addressing sramanas on how to subsume and remove their cravings within the practice. They do not eat because the body is hungry, they do so for ease in striving and only at the right time.

Re: Are Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha a product of Mara?

The wisdom of a Buddha is free from all extremes and cannot be placed on a spectrum; it is free from the intellect.

The eightfold path is a response to Mara, but the result is not.
