Re: Between Jhanas and Satipatthanas is there a big difference?

Yes and no Sure, you get established in virtue and seek solitude and quiet. That minimises the creation of new kamma seed. Wherever there is contact there is craving. Reduce contact. Very important. Then. The practice of insight meditation. Vipassana. This proper continuous equanimous observation of...

Re: What is the destination of the people who get Buddha's teachings wrong?

"A person who is ignorant of the Dhamma [ignorance refers to 'ignorance of the Dhamma'] cannot act wholesomely, at least not intentionally. Therefore, all their intentional actions are unwholesome. As such, they are destined for hell." Seems to be an odd sort of thing to say. Truism that, incorrect ...

Re: Right Speech

Allow yourself to be happy.. It's hard to be negative when happy. It's infectious too. So, in time, less negative gossip. Whenever you do fall off the perch just retake the precept.

Re: Loss of zeal or just chilling out?

You are identifying with the level you have reached. Don't do that. Don't do anything. Just observe the mellow with equanimity. Like all composed things it will decompose.

Enough?

An obsession with attaining jhanas, or any other thing, on the way to the goal is opposite to the practice. The habit is to want something of imagined pleasure. Craving. Or not wanting someting that is not what is imagined. Craving. To crave an imagined attainment is not the path. Don't waste precio...

Re: Ritual for becoming a Buddhist

Devotional rituals, puja, can be helpful in debasing self. May the Buddha walk on me, not in the mud. Loosening the attachment to self. Also, after a long sit, a good spine stretch is nice.

Re: Snp 2.1 however heedless be they afterwards?

You have to understand that here heedless means inattentive. At some point the continuous attention (atapi sampajano satima) needed for the defilements to pass away is not needed as no more are generated because the latent tendency root has been cut.

Re: Dharma name translated in Pali?

fidèle force Du cœur - however, 'of the' is parmi in French and if the words given were something like fidele force parmi cœur Then the meaning refers to a paramita of which loving kindness seems most applicable. So therefore the translation would be something along the line of 'faithful strength me...

Dragons, reptiles, snakes represent death. Phoenix's represent the enemy or victor over death. The egg represents the pre liberation being. The phoenix carrying off the egg represents attainment of deathlessness ( liberation) :rolleye: .

ReCognising the value of equanimity. How to develop it. "If a monk should wish: may I... remain equanimous, mindful, & alert,' then he should attend carefully to this same concentration through mindfulness of in-&-out breathing." This being: " having gone to the wilderness, to the shade of a tree, o...

Re: Seeing the dhamma without contacting Buddhism before hand

Yes, it happens all the time to some degree. Recognising it for what it is and interacting with it correctly is another matter. Very rare. That's what teaching Buddha's do and teach.
