Do explicit teachings that "Nibbāna is attā" actually exist in some "Buddhism" lineages ?!? ... omg!!

. Since the early 1990s, the question as to whether there is a Higher Self (attā) to be found in Nibbāna or whether Nibbāna is void of Self (anattā), has been fervently discussed in Thai Buddhism (cf. Williams, 2009: 125-28, Cholvarn, 2007). Various groups of followers of the famous Thai meditation...

Re: Sri Lanka|Thailand|Myanmar|Malaysia: lastest news on opening to foreigners

During last two or so months, Covid-19 seemed receding from Myanmar, with gradual reopening of the closures/restrictions. However, Within last two weeks, around mid and late August, there's a second wave of cases in Myanmar, with no new death reported yet, fortunately. Returning to Old-normal situat...

Re: Dhammakaya replaces "anatta" with "atta" in their Tipitaka!

In this DW topic of Dhammakaya replaces "anatta" with "atta" in their Tipitaka! This is pretty off topic and has nothing to do with the OPs question. But since this is isn't even accurate I think i should point out this thread here. https://dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?p=482775#p482775 Included ar...

In this DW topic of Dhammakaya replaces "anatta" with "atta" in their Tipitaka! discussions on existence of explicit teachings about true self can be found, like: ... ... Luang Pu taught that the attainment of Nibbāna is attā, because when someone has attained it, it is a state that is permanent, ha...

Why Buddha did not say that the world is round?

World is world.
Globe is globe.
Earth is Earth.
Worlds are worlds.

Re: The Four Noble Truths

The forth Noble Truth is a progressive path, by definition. If you mean "understand the Four Noble Truths fully , all at the same time" then yes, that happens all at once. However, that's just because the Noble Truths, especially the forth, have progressively cumulated to a full 100% understanding....

... "What unites us is greater than what separates us" ... What a great quote! The same opinion occurs to me, generally, thesedays. It may be even applied to some non theravadic traditions, imo, to some extent. imo, as long as there exist theravada teachings to right one up near the very the top, i...

Re: My thoughts on InsightMyanmar Podcasts

Oh, I see. Different lineages tend to be different, I suppose. And, I imagine Thabawa Sayadaw would say: "This happened? Then, detached from it, and carry on doing good deeds as far as possible without being attached, as ever". That said, making the two venerables appeared on two different episodes ...
