Re: Non duality of BuddhaVacana

Aren't those same ? {what Buddha says is so and not otherwise} = {no duality "it may be true or it may be not"} Yes. I just thought you meant, that commentary supports some kind of advaita non-duality. Oh no, this is about non-dual-meaning/certainty of the Realized one's words. I think this is the ...

Re: Minimum size of the Organism we should care about.

There istance a monk with psychic ability looked into the water and saw there were microbes and asked the Buddha if drinking will harm them. Buddha said don't look and drink.

Re: Why do many reject asceticism than indulgence ?

The Buddha prefers you err on the side of asceticism rather than luxury (he prefers asceticism). ... it is the former mendicant who is more worthy of respect and praise. Why is that? Because for a long time that will conduce to that mendicant being of few wishes, content, self-effacing, easy to loo...

Minimum size of the Organism we should care about.

What is the minimum size of the Organism we should care about in order to refrain from doing indirect harm? What about micro organisms? The blessed one has advised monks to drink only being-less water by filtering using a cloth. (Vinaya) And there are incidents where the Blessed one asked other one ...

Why do many reject asceticism than indulgence ?

In the first discourse Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta , the Blessed One states that a monk should avoid both asceticism and indulgence extremes. Many modern Buddhists believe this nevertheless reject asceticism more than indulgence. Yet several ascetics say that the asceticism extreme is relatively bett...

This is also a difference between vishuddamagga versus vimuttimagga.

Re: Non duality of BuddhaVacana

Could you give me the sutta reference? That was in Atthakata and I don't know about an online version. Would the Realized One make an ambiguous statement? I said to him: ‘Sunakkhatta, the naked ascetic Pāṭikaputta is not capable of coming into my presence, unless he gives up that statement and that...
