Re: My criticism of Nanavira and other "existentialist"

But as expected, you have not responded to any of my 2 questions at all    Because your questions are irrelevant and unrelated to the subject matter you claim to be an expert on. Thank you for the explanation mr. Lawyer. But I was more curious in what the client had to say, since ...

Re: My criticism of Nanavira and other "existentialist"

I am not familiar with the commentarial or abbhidhabammic interpretation of sutta pitakka. But when it comes to the modern existential interpretations, modern abbhidhabammas - I consider them highly at odds with the suttas and this is what I am trying to prove in this topic. Buddhist existentialit s...

Re: My criticism of Nanavira and other "existentialist"

Buddha said one who has right view will never be "confused o inwardly perplexed about existence" :anjali: What do you think he meant by that? As you will recall, I don't think it has anything to do with "whether rocks exist". :anjali: Mike I actually don't recall well but I will search the sutta. T...

Re: My criticism of Nanavira and other "existentialist"

Ok first, I have no idea what question 2 has to do with Nanavira. Second, the premise behind question number 1 is fallacious, paticcasamuppada is not temporal but structural, this is something Nanavira ingeniously reveals while abundantly citing authentic pali doctrine with impeccable accur...

I appreciate you were the only one here to at least express a honest opinion on the problem and did not eel-wriggle about it trying to avoid the question.

Re: My criticism of Nanavira and other "existentialist"

In and of itself rūpa doesn't exist -- it requires nāma in order to "be". From Ven. Ñanavira's Notes on Dhamma: Yes, but how about the question ? Yes/No/Do not know ? If you're going to speak, at least speak truth. You said you have a close opinion to SDC on the matter: http://www.dhammawheel.com/v...

Re: My criticism of Nanavira and other "existentialist"

I'd be surprised to find someone who really understands him in the first place (for there even to be realistic grounds of critique), I'm barely scratching the surface and I can already tell views on him are way off base because they are way too general and simplistic. I can tell you right now recko...

Re: Romania just legalized corruption

I want to point out that romanians almost never protest. We don't have this american tradition of protesting about everything. Protest are very very rare here. But this gives so much more importance to the protest. When a protest happens, it always happens for a good reason, is usually apolitical an...

Re: Romania just legalized corruption

BREAKING - There are hopes that something will happen. I have a feeling something will happen. 1) The protests are getting bigger and bigger by the day and they were already the biggest protest since the 89 revolution, bigger even than the protests of the economic crisis. More and more celebrities,...

Re: Romania just legalized corruption

I'm really losing hope. Now that corruption is legal, there is no way anybody is making it illegal again. First of all, the socialist just got elected and will rule for 4 years with the president having little power against them. If others will take power after 4 years, they will probably make modif...

Re: Romania just legalized corruption

Some background about how we got to this: In the 90's, there were laws in place only that they were not respected because the justice system was subordinated to the politicians. This was a period where you could do things like: give a whole historical mountain resort worth 650 million for free to a ...

Romania just legalized corruption

In my country, the socialist voted in power under a month ago just passed a law through executive order with the following contents: IMPORTANT PROBLEMS: - abuse in function (like giving contracts for 100 times the normal amount) - decriminalized under 50.000 euro. This means that if you steal 500.00...

Re: Can we bridge the two vehicles?

I too consider them a different religion that has nothing to do with what the historical Buddha taught. So I don't see how a school following the historical Buddha could "bridge" with a school not following the historical Buddha. What is important are the "higher teachings" of the buddha not the "mu...
