Re: Love your enemy

Loving-kindness meditation is for the purpose of cultivating your heart. Sending metta to your enemy cultivates your heart. It affects how you treat your enemy/adversary/person of your dislike face to face. There is no divine magic that would transform enemies far away. Metta meditation is for you, ...

Re: Victims of Communism

Everything goes back to what I said before. Any kind of system, as long as it is made of people will ultimately degrade.

Re: Victims of Communism

For me, change begins with individual. Every individual needs to have spiritual anchor so that the collective has spiritual anchor. Until this happens, all the talks on politics is academic and not fruitful. All political systems are impermanent. No matter how good it begins, people change so the sy...

Re: Global Warming: Recent Data

Like Buddha said - It is impossible for us to know the origin of our universe. Nature is a non-linear process of dozens of variables so it is impossible to know how much of human activities contribute to the global climate. How significant are human activities that affect or dont affect climate is u...

Re: Global Warming: Recent Data

Media is extremely biased thses days so it cannot be trusted to report only the facts. Global warming was supposed to swallow up our shores and there would be untold number of natural disasters. All of these have been fabrication of Al Gore. All elitst people who are doing the scaring continue to wa...

Re: Ego confusion?

Had I seen this post earlier I would have suggested what sarahw suggested. In the beginning of October 2015 I focused on mental noting and body scan vipassana; however, as I found more PDFs and read more I started to incorporate anapanasati, satipatthana, dhamma reading, and the practice of dhamma t...

Re: Have I understood Non-Self correctly?

I understand why you are trying to intellectualize not-self. It is fine, but ultimately not-self is not knowledge you can possess. It is experiential knowledge to be attained via practice. Knowing cannot change our ways but experiencing it will change our ways.

Re: mahasi vipassana vs goenka vipassana

Goenka should be praised for establishing free meditation retreats around the world allowing many to be exposed to meditation. Of course, being free has its flaws but the benefit one can obtain out weighs the flaws. [A paragraph badmouthing traditions and their teachers removed by staff] Body scan i...

Re: Right Speech - lying

You: It is not important if I have money or not. What is important is that you need to think about your health and your family. I love you, and it is hard for me to watch you drink harming your mind and body. Will you stop drinking and get some professional help? or You: Do you have love for your fa...

Re: Being "watched over" by the Buddha

Such practice is not consistent with the practice. Prior to all deeds, in speech or in action, one should contemplate the arising mental intention based on its motivation and the purity of the motivation. To imagine that Buddha is always watching over you is no different than in other religions wher...

Re: People who have made continous awareness work.

Your brain is currently wired in certain way. This current condition is strong because it has been this way all your life. Continuous awareness requires practice for as long as necessary based on your diligence and other conditional factors as well. If you have the luxury of retreat, then the same d...

Re: Vipassana and Qi energy?

My opinion differs. Qi is life energy, so it is in you whether you meditate or not. If I do qi meditation, I will cause qi to flow continuously. If I do anapanasati meditation, the mind is not directing qi flow. Qi will flow in accordance to its natural flow no more different than when not meditatin...
