Re: Sexual intercourse with other woman with the consent of wife

Re: Non-Duality and the Wavefunction

I think I have a vague sense of what you are getting at and it sounds like an interesting avenue for exploration - not so much through intellectualizing but through meditation practice...

A Seasonal Abiding Long winters aid believing spring could last Bodies making nests where shadows melt As temperatures are plummeting, aghast! We wonder then if pleasure's what was felt. No permanent oasis is discerned A seasonal abiding is the rule Awareness of the spokes as fortune turns Now shar...

Re: Mind lives on after death?

I think atheists expect death, yet that will never happen you're in for a painful surprise, friend you will die I'm 99.99% sure that cappuccino knows that. What he means is that he fully expects a continuation of consciousness after death, whatever form that may take. I'm inclined to agree

Re: What is wrong with Sati's pernicious viewpoint?

My understanding is that Sati identified with consciousness. He viewed consciousness as a kind of "self" - something permanent, stable, essential etc...However, according to the Buddha's teachings, consciousness is dependently originated, it is impermanent, unsatisfactory, and not-self. Consciousnes...

Re: Sexual misconduct

"Just do it" - Many, including myself, have stamped this bad habit out...There is something to be said for sheer determination and will, but be sure to go about this skillfully (that means understanding and compassion for yourself AND clearly recognizing the dangers of continuing to indulge). The Bu...

Re: Buddhism and alcohol

Do you have any friends/family who can help you in case you end up without a job?? No, I have have to find for another job on my own, which is not easy. I hate this job (a Buddhist shouldn't say this, but lying is unwholesome too). It's hard to explain, this company is like a maffia, and I feel a s...

Re: If I am reborn it is not me. So why I care about the rebirth?

It has already been (more or less) stated by others but I will reiterate: If you identify with, or care about, the 5 aggregates that are arising and ceasing at this very moment, in this life, you should understand why it makes sense to care about what happens beyond this life. Because there is no es...

Re: one word to defeat the eternalists

Maybe it's not so important that we understand exactly what Nibbana is, so that we can argue about it online...maybe it is more important that we do what we can day by day, moment by moment, to get closer to actually realizing Nibbana. Then we can know for sure what it is, and how to think of it, or...

Re: Should you sit 12 hours to know that your are in first Jhana?

From another post by Zom: So far I don't know anyone who genuinely attain it and could sit for a very long time (except one person from Nepal but the situation with him is very controversial by now). There are many who teach, but again, I've never seen and never heard that any of these teachers cou...
