What you wrote, again, has no basis in experience or reality. ;)
That's quite the proclamation. I guess by contrast I am meant to assume that everything you say has a "basis in experience and reality" ?

May you be well.

Re: no birth without rebirth

There is no contradiction. Suffering occurs because of its cause (craving and ignorance). No. Suffering occurs because of attachment to change. While craving itself is not peaceful, suffering does not occur due to craving alone. Do you not believe in rebirth? (no problem either way, I had just assu...

Re: no birth without rebirth

To me, this passage is pointing out how lack of mindfulness leads to the continuation of dependent origination, which leads to continual rebirth, sickness, aging, death, suffering, etc...However, in my mind the possibility remains that a person who has realized a Noble path or fruit dwells with min...

Re: no birth without rebirth

Based on the teachings, it seems death must occur without mindfulness, as follows: He dwells with mindfulness unestablished , with limited awareness. He doesn't discern, as it has come to be, the mind-release & discernment-release where those evil, unskillful qualities cease without remainder. Enga...

Do you really believe the "person" that enters into an "embryo" has conscious awareness of entering their mothers womb as written in DN 28?
is it absolutely necessary for a person to die without mindfulness? Is unconscious transmigration an inviolable law of the Universe?

Re: Musings on Tantra and Mayahana (from: Tantric Theravada?)

Thich Nhat Hanh is obviously one of the most well-known Buddhist teachers in the world. From what I've seen, his teachings include fairly frequent references to early Buddhist concepts and texts. I suspect he has studied them somewhat intensively and considers them quite important.

Re: If you become a Sotapanna will you know that?

If you become a Sotapanna will you know that? Perhaps, no, or at least, not in all cases. The reason is "Dhamma Mirror" teaching given by the Buddha for people to check if they are stream-winners. If you know that for sure at the moment of attaining - what is the need for this "mirror"? 8-) Good po...

I don't know of any other handwriting samples, good thinking though - I saw some similar posts on his linkedin account. I just have a hard time understanding what would motivate a hacker/spammer to do that? Just for a laugh, I guess? Hopefully we'll get an update soon

Re: Buying flowers online is a cheap and easy way to make merit.

Recently my grandpa told me a story about his mother - she had quite a bit of money after her husband passed away (he was a successful artist), and every month she would make a ton of charitable donations. My grandpa started to look into her finances and unfortunately, some (but not all) of her dona...

Bhikkhu Samahita's Recent Google Groups Email

Is anyone else subscribed to this Google Group (Buddha Direct 2). Received a cryptic email this morning, and I am concerned for Ven. Samahita. Does anyone have any information about this??
