Ill Will ( One of the 5 hindrances )

Hello guys, I have a problem in my life at the moment which is ILL WILL. There's some person who is harming my father and my family financially and emotionally. There are also others who provoke little bit of Ill will in me. Buddha says to meditate loving kindness but no matter how much I try to spr...

Kinda lost on what to do

Hello guys, i have a question on what to do for my practice? I've been meditating ~40 mins a day + constantly being mindful of thoughts, feelings, and whatever arises. I notice that some thoughts are extremely easy to be observed as simply meaningless concepts while other thoughts like Ill will or di...

How will you do that? is the next question ...
I should not let go right away. These days I'm trying to cut away all the pleasures like watching tv or even basic activities like enjoying a treat. Maybe I should take it seriously.

Re: Beginning to notice family is also to be let go

Ryan, how old are you? 20? Do you have association with comforting companions other than your parents? Renunciation needs to be gradual, healthy, and skillful. There is a time to cling, a time to loosen, and a time to let go. You should not cling too tightly to your family as they are on loan, but ...

Re: Beginning to notice family is also to be let go

Noticing and being aware of clinging is a good first step. Congratulation You are currently aware of the content of your thoughts and imagination. One day if you are lucky may realize the content of thoughts and imagination are no longer interesting. But many people (including yours truly) often go...

Beginning to notice family is also to be let go

I'm beginning to notice that I also cling the most to my family. I don't know if this kind of thought is appropriate for mindfulness but the more i think of my family the more I suffer. I sometimes imagine my mother and father passing away and thinking there will never be a person that can love me t...

Lacking Samvega/motivation

Hi, Im back from college and currently in house. Staying at home and playing games with friends is really making me guilty. Ever since i got home, i've gotten so lazy and have been just playing games and doing nothing. I stopped meditating and practicing mindfulness. I've stopped reading books. Sigh...

Re-evaluating my practice

So I've been practicing buddhism for about 5 months so far. I read about 6-7 books on various authors such as bhikku, ajans, and etc. Right now I want to know if my own practice is either on right path or digressing? Mindfulness For this, I know that I must be constantly on alert, always being aware...

Re: why do we even have to suffer in first place?

why are we so inclined to suffer anyway.... whats the intention behind it...? I think that's an excellent question, Ryan, but it's one that other people usually can't help you with. What were your intentions, and what are they now? One discerns wrong resolve as wrong resolve, and right resolve as r...

Body awareness/scanning

Is this step all that important? I find really hard to concentrate when i scan my body or somehow try to fill my body with breath sensations from skull to fingers, toes, and spines. Why is this step important and why do so many teachers emphasize this step? I'm not really sure on this method. Im cur...

Re: My parents are deathly afraid

Based on what you wrote your father said, maybe you are not doing too well in your classes right now? If so, perhaps work harder at improving your grades and finishing your course of study with good grades (if it is high school) or even completing your degree (if you are a university student). That...
