Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

@Sam Vara: Sorry. I did not see your PM earlier. Sam Vara said: Everything you post is either promoting or defending Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero. That is not correct. Everything I post is either promoting or defending Buddha Dhamma. I am just grateful to Waharaka Thero for pointing me i...

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

Rightviewftw gives many quotes from the Tipitaka. But which one disproves what I have stated (which statement is disproved)? in regards to Buddha's supposed worry, all of them do clearly suggest that you are wrong. I could even string together enough sutta excerpts to constitute a book showing how ...

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

Ok, Why are these english translations incorrect? can you show why they are? If you learn to control your temper and read carefully what I write, you may be able to think rationally and not make statements like this. Again, I am not saying this in anger, but with compassion. When one’s mind is agit...

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

If anyone has serious questions, please quote from what I have written incorrectly and explain why. Just quoting incorrectly translated suttas does not serve any purpose to the discussion. I have explained those points many times before. - I have made some direct statements in order to get points a...

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

I am listing my recent posts below. As one reads those it will become clear that my questions have not been answered on all those topics: vinnana, sanna, paticca samuppada, anicca, anatta, breath and kasina meditations are not in the Tipitaka, why using Sanskrit texts is breaking Vinaya rules, etc....

It'd be certainly helpful if you can properly answer what various users have questioned. It seems to be shaking up my belief in puredhamma.

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

"It seems, what Waharaka actually says is, "It's OK to brutally torture/kill unworthy Tamils, for the sake of the worthy Sinhalese!" You cannot make such accusations, and then say "it seems". It is a complete lie. You need to calm down. In this particular case, there is no need to explain since no ...

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

I hope we can have a rational conversation on this current topic, where we can reach a conclusion. I am going to ignore all useless comments on character assassinations. I don’t have time to defend any other but Waharaka Thero. Everything he has said in his desanas, and what I have written at pured...

Breath meditation

Hello, I have a question about breath meditation. When watching the breath go in and out are you supposed to concentrate on entirety of the breath. Are you supposed to concentrate on the breath every second the moment it goes out and the moment it goes in?

My father believes that zen buddhism is the truest

Well, he has been "trying" to attain enlightenment for 40 years. He started off with Buddhism of course, believing that what the Buddha said was true because he "felt" something very sincere in his teachings. After he learned about supernatural things of Buddhism, he began to feel doubtful and moved...

Re: If rebirth is actually true

I see what you're saying. However I have this extreme discomfort in the idea that my next rebirth will be some middle class person who doesn't even know about dhamma/buddhism. What are the actual chances of people in the western or even in the eastern world to actually practice buddhism and meditat...

Re: If rebirth is actually true

I think the OP is just referring to the sad reality of life. It doesn't seem fair that we should be subject to all this suffering, etc. We should just not exist at all and that would be the end of it. I understand that feeling, but that attitude won't get you anywhere and can lead to a depressed ou...

If rebirth is actually true

man... what else can i say more about this whole system of existence. It's almost devilish. Why can't we just be in that state of non aware entity before we were born. sigh.

Re: Complicated issue I'm facing with meditation and mindfulness

I think I sort of understand what the OP is describing because I think I'm a bit in the same situation. Even when I don't seem to be thinking of anything, like the OP says, staring at a wall with no thought, or just sitting there with eyes closed with no thought, there still is this feeling of bein...
