Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

Pure Dhamma helped me to realize insight into this world and bring experiences I didn't have with any of other meditations and traditions. I pretty understand your stance against it but it's from the very ignorant perspective - those who are in opposite simply cling to their wrong views and what the...

Re: What Is The Need Of Studying Philosophy?

I personally studied most of philosophy from west and east by more then 10 years. I have right view on philosophy and know it very well from different views and context. From ancient-medieval period mostly, without modern or postmodern ones. What I can say, some philosophers are wonderful beings, ca...

Re: What Is The Need Of Studying Philosophy?

That's what philosophers do. Not realizing that there is no end and no point and no results in philosophy - it's matter of time when it will be come hindrance.

Philosophy can open the mind and perspective, generate insight and shed some light into reality but by doing that it will create another wall so it's endless process.

Re: Mara and demons are "real".

This is when we have go into speculative knowledge or ideas and I do not think the buddhism is about it. We need to look on this topic related to the suttas. For my personal experience is that those demons are related to kilesas (hindrences). As such I would not really think of Mara as being but rat...

Re: My criticism of Thanissaro and other "true selfers"

I think those matters can not be settled up intellectualy. The best is to come towards realization and insight and then mind affected by realization and insight will explain it clearly to people as Buddha did. If we start position ourselves in such and such point of view against such and such it wil...

Mara can not touch you if you follow right effort. That's true but one way or another you will have meeting with Mara, but it's just to crush "it" as Buddha said. :anjali:

Mara and demons are "real".

Hello. I didn't post for a pretty long time. I'm kind off serious now with my cultivation so you can ignore all my responses and answers related to Dhamma (from the past) as my practice steady progressing while focusing strictly on Sutta and practice. Avijja is strong and sometimes it's hard to pene...

Re: How did Buddha achieve enlightenment ???

He let go of clinging while hindus and vedas (trithikas) approach grasping impermanent phenomena. Buddha - approached jhanas, all states and methods and did not find satisfaction of this so he let go of everything while stating "I'm either enlighten myself or die" and then he let go of phenomena. Re: Sex positive movement

Sex is okay and it's generally positive if it's done in loving atmosphere with metta mind. Actually it can heal and do many things - but it's limited to it's own form and working.
