Re: Suffering dismissed as unreal for me AND those around me

Thanks for your answers!

So if I got it right, this business of me being like a wave in the ocean, and of the self being a delusional concept, and that there is no answer to 'who is suffering?' because there is no one to experience suffering in the first place, is foreign to your school of buddhism?

Suffering dismissed as unreal for me AND those around me?

Hello, I am brand new to buddhism, and I was reading an introductory book to Zen buddhism. I know this forum does not directly deal with zen, but my question may not necessarily concern zen only. Please let me know if it is relevant to other branches of buddhism as well, or not. The book was basical...

Re: Solving the 'sex issue'

Thank you everyone! In less than a day, thanks to you all, I have learned about more tips and internet ressources on this issue than in all my life until now! I had no idea there were so many useful things to be found on the internet for my problem (link after link I even ended up on http://www.calm...

Re: Solving the 'sex issue'

Thank you Santa, this is an amazing text! A bit hard to read (I'm not sure I understood what is meant by 'attending to the relaxing of thought-fabrication') but coupled with Zom's advice, hopefully the only thing left to do is act on it... I just hope that in the heat of the moment, my brain will ac...

Re: Solving the 'sex issue'

Oh and one last question Zom: after all those years of practice, do you now feel that it is very easy to control this aspect? Or are you still at risk of 'slipping' any second, do you have to remain vigilant at all times?

Re: Solving the 'sex issue'

Thank you very much Zom for this very detailed guide. I only have one remaining question, I think: you were saying that it won't work if I have a sexual partner. What if I had a romantic partner (ie, allowing for emotional bonding, kissing cuddles and affection and physical contact in general, but n...

Re: Solving the 'sex issue'

Thank you very much for these two answers. If I may follow up on them: Seems like you're hating yourself for masturbating, I suggest you find a way to stop or cut back your habit, or simply learn to stop hating yourself for what most people today would consider a natural body function. What I hate i...

Solving the 'sex issue'

Hello, I'm new here, apologies in advance if I'm not posting in the right section. I know close to nothing about buddhism, I am a practising Muslim, and I have a very specific question. I have come to realise through prayer and worship (the Muslim way) how much my sexuality affects my spirituality, ...

Re: Buddhislm is Absurd

Salam alaykum Being a Muslim myself, I know 'modern' Muslim preachers and their techniques quite well. Dr Naik knows that he addresses mostly people with no knowledge of buddhism whatsoever. Oddly enough, Naik's audience is predominantly Muslim, so he preaches to converts as it were. His 'mission' m...
