Brown rice would obviously be better.
You're welcome!
Yes, but many new cooks I have known find brown rice intimidating, and white rice also meets Individual's time requirement. :)

Re: American Politics

Their is a third party, the Tea Party, with is pushing the Republicans, driving them further to the right, but behind them are Republicans who are using the Tea Party's fear and racism to push their agenda of deregulation of big business. It is like two snakes eating each other. It is only going to...

Re: This election: DON'T VOTE

Hmmm, in the UK the turnout is pretty bad at 65.1% [http://www.ukpolitical.info/Turnout45.htm]. "Stupid people shouldn't vote"? :( How sad. Half the population has an IQ of 100 or below*, and everybody had the right to have their opinion heard in a democracy. I didn't even know there was an electio...

Re: Can my cat be reborn as a human being?

Perrow, don't restrain your cat. First, due the their physiology, cats must eat meat. So it is in their nature to be predators. Seconds, a cat's brain is about the size of a walnut. Cats don't have the mental capacity to understand that there may be a different way to live. That's what makes human b...

Bill was in surgery for 14 hours on Wednesday. He is doing well now. He is still hooked up to some machines, but he can sit up now and today he ate some soup. Thank you all!

Please pray for my friends

My friends Bill and Suz in Michigan are having a difficult time. Bill will be having open-heart surgery before the end of September. Suz has been on long-term medications which, it turns out, have damaged her kidneys and they are now only at 20% of their normal function. She is now off all her kidne...

Re: Buddhism and Psychedelics

There are some religions in which psychedelic use is an accepted practice. Buddhism is not one of them. If you want to experiment with such things, that's up to you, but don't try to legitimize such experimentation as arcane Buddhist practice. To do so is to do both yourself and Buddhism a disservic...

Re: Mass panic at loveparade

The closest I ever came to being in a panic was when a riot broke out in my town after one of the university sports teams won a national championship. I was at work in a third-floor office in a building in the center of the area where the riot broke out and I could see it begin from the office windo...

The master cleanse can actually interfere with the proper functioning of the liver and kidneys. It is not recommended by real doctors.

Re: Extreme Headaches!

Here are some headache remedies which are not necessarily physician-approved, but which give some people relief:

A drop of peppermint oil rubbed on each temple

Pour boiling water on basil and inhale the steam

Put your feet in ice water

I wish your sister luck. Chronic headaches are miserable.

Re: Nuts - too much of a good thing?

Walnuts are a good source of omega-3's for vegetarians.

I like other nuts, but I rarely eat the salted ones from a can. Most of the time I use raw nuts, toast them myself, and add them to various recipes, or add them plain to salads.

Peanuts are not really nuts. They are legumes.

Re: So I gave vegetarianism a try and..

Every time vegetarianism comes up, the Dalai lama's eating habits are evoked. Maybe in Buddhist circles - outside of it - it seems always to be Hitler! Hitler was not, in fact, vegetarian. His favorite dishes included turtle soup, blood sausage ( http://planetsmilies.net/vomit-smiley-7502.gif ), an...

Quorn was developed from a soil fungus found in a British village in the 1960s. The claim on the label that it is "mushroom in origin" is misleading, because the soil fungus and mushrooms are both fungi in the same way that clams and humans are both animals -- no one would claim that clams and human...

The study on which the Weston A. Price Foundation bases it claims that soy is bad for you was badly flawed. If soy was really as bad as the Price lunatics claim, breast cancer and man-boobs would be endemic across Asia. Also, bear in mind that neither Sally Fallon nor Mary Enig, currently the loudes...
