Re: Online games addiction

ok. thats pretty fine, but can you tell me where peace is to be found? You're on a theravada buddhist forum so I am assuming you have an idea.. I do have an idea, but you seem to think/assume otherwise, so that's the reason for asking you to clarify!? If all that is true then you must be...

Re: how well do you know buddhism quiz

It's clickbait - selling eyeballs to advertisers, harvesting email addresses for direct online marketing and...

Re: Forum Section moderated according to Sutta

Maybe that's a way to do it!? I train myself like when I'm aware that one has been too absorbed in quarreling with somebody, and one understands that this debate is actually a contest of "who has the biggest daddy", - I've reached a point where i have made a self that needs to be led to the scaffold...

Re: Structuring lay life

Do we short ourselves an opportunity to discover Dhamma if we settle for the five precepts instead of eight? Thoughts? I'd be permanently shorting myself of Mrs. Vara if I went for the eight. ... and she might become very happy, and that's a bit .. bit ..!?!... ;) Joke aside :anjali: Asked ...

To choose not to speak your mind in a situation, or too even tell a lie will be filtered through the "gate keepers" i missed the gate keepers part, was it itt? :anjali: No, you didn't miss anything I guess. If we have gatekeepers who have developed awareness, they will pay attention to the instruct...

I mostly see fine people around me, but I know that all of them are deranged , and people who indulge in violent games i regard as possible "ticking bombs" .. If all that is true then you must be very afraid, very often. I hope you find some peace. :anjali: ok. thats pretty fine, but can you tell m...

That is uncertain, it can go this way or it can go that way

In these days some of our "biggest stars" in entertainment seem to suffer much more than I

Re: Are spiritual people depressed and unhappy and poor?

I've had the fortune of slipping down the social ladder ending at the bottom, and everything was just fine. Now I am back on my feat again, and nothing has changed.

But I do believe out of my own experience that a spiritual life can be much harder than a normal life. Harder but truly rewarding :)

Re: Challenging Position "Sotapanna Can break Five Precepts, it is possible, it can happen."

My guess is that the faculty of "Hiri ottappa" is strengthened in a wise person, and combined with lack of doubt to the teachings, and this will balance all actions to fit with the way it is. Hiri Ottapa is definitely restraining, however i think one would have to change the statement becau...
