Re: Contemplation of the Body Isnt it Wonderful:)

perceptually dissociated from the body, to pathological degrees. Sorry can you explain this, do you mean that they are blind to its unattractive aspects? I mean that most modern people are barely conscious that there is a body ... and have next to no idea how it works below the surface, how diet af...

Re: Contemplation of the Body Isnt it Wonderful:)

I think it should be much more popular Imo, the reason it doesn't resonate with modern Western / Westernized people is that they aren't particularly enchanted with the body ... in fact, nearly all modern people are perceptually dissociated from the body, to pathological degrees. They are enchanted ...

Re: Stand Against Suffering

Greetings Pink_Trike, My point was that it is _you_ that are doing this ... it is you who politicize and politically parse ... to the point of apparently needing to diminish and question the motives of quite a number of valued effective teachers. I'm not questioning their motives at all. Moral rela...

Re: Stand Against Suffering

If people prioritise political ideologies over the Dhamma, then that is their choice - it is not for me to stop them. My point was that it is _you_ that are doing this ... it is you who politicize and politically parse ... to the point of apparently needing to diminish ("disgruntled leftists" is po...

Re: Stand Against Suffering

... my view of the world comes from my view of the Dhamma. You seem to spend a lot of time holding forth about how disgruntled leftists / "social justice warriors" (ridiculing and belittling terms) are a screwed up menace to society who have it all wrong (which implies that you have it all right). ...

Re: Stand Against Suffering

Greetings, Exactly. It's that simple. Well said. All we are presented with in the "Stand Against Suffering" are disgrunted leftists with a different ideological world-view, rooted in moral relativism, who are unhappy that the President of the United States sees the world differently than they do. R...

Re: Stand Against Suffering

Greetings, Exactly. It's that simple. Well said. Some people seem determined to mentally inflict wounds upon themselves for the next eight years... There's all kinds of people, aren't there (even your post could be read as an expression of mentally inflicted wounds). :) However, quite a lot of us a...

Re: Stand Against Suffering

The Buddha spoke out about wholesome and unwholesome behaviour, and about wholesome and unwholesome ways of running households and societies. While, as in other aspects of Dhamma interpretation and practice, different people may well have different opinions, it would seem odd to complain about mode...

Re: Is progress possible in insight meditation without temporarily altered vision?

I have been practicing to lessen and end suffering, not to have some experience of the instability of matter. ... Perhaps seeing the instability of matter is a wonderful way to lessen suffering and it is just my own misconceptions that are causing me to feel that this is not something I would want....

Re: Cultural Marxism

The term "cultural marxism" (and the term "socialism") replaced the "communist threat" fear meme that radical rightists / capitalists / religionists used for decades to scare people into submission / conformity. It's a tool used by many rightist religious white straight males to identify and discred...

Re: supernormal powers

Well take it fwiw this are my personal beliefs, Ever since meditative attainment i seem to occasionally know intuitively about things that happen away from me but will affect me as stress. One time i saw a dream where i was told i was going to crash, next day i lose consciousness. Several times ive...
