Re: New illustration/comic blog

@Nicolas: I'll take that as a compliment ;)

Re: New illustration/comic blog

Kim, thank so much, this is all very helpful! :) I am redesigning the website as we speak, so I will definitely consider your advice in the process. The first version was thrown together real quick in an effort to get going with the project. So, I am taking down the comic I posted up there because i...

Re: New illustration/comic blog

So! I've been actually making these comics for a while now. ( http://www.jesaispas.ca ) I'm at #120 today. It's more in the line of poetry and art but it is definitely Dhamma-inspired. About half of it is in french, and I am intending to continue only in french. However, I'm trying to get sutta-insp...

Re: 21-days no-carb no-sugar challenge

I'm not sure exactly in which way fruits are better than bread, pasta and cookies. I do know through experience that on an empty stomach, I will feel refreshed and energized after having fruit. After having the same weight in bread, pasta or cookies, I'll often have a huge drop of energy, dullness a...

Re: 21-days no-carb no-sugar challenge

Hi Ben, I would love to hear your views on this, because I happen to share manas' opinion and I would be very grateful if you could enlighten us with a perspective that we have not thought of on the subject of sugars. :anjali: On another note, this experiment was a success on my side. This was a gre...

Re: 21-days no-carb no-sugar challenge

Hi Retro, Sorry, I realize that the title is misleading. What I stopped eating for 21 days are these two categories: 1- Food that contain sweeteners such as white/brown sugar, honey, molasses, etc. 2- Food that contain wheat, corn, potatoes and white rice To help me put this in content, what kind of...

Re: 21-days no-carb no-sugar challenge

Foods that I myself cook from the basic ingredients, even if they do contain sugar, arouse far less craving and other problems in me than store-bought ones. After having eaten commercial ready-made foods of any kind, but especially cookies, ice cream, chocolate and pasta, I feel very tired and hung...

Re: Upāyikā 2.078

Is this sutta from the Pali canon or elsewhere? The Upāyikā includes a selection from the Mūlasarvāstivāda Āgamas. They were originally compiled to serve as a companion reader to Vasubandhu's Abhidharma-kośa. Chinese parallel doesn't omit saṅkhāras (行). So it's probably a mistake either in English ...

Good point, Ben. :)

Simple carbs with the exception of fruit.
But somehow I think you knew what I meant.

21-days no-carb no-sugar challenge

I've flirted with 2 meals and 1 meal a day a few times before and I always run into the same problem: sugar gets really, really tempting. Most times, I went back to bad habits just because I ended up snacking (before noon) on either cookies, ice cream or chocolate. I've experimented enough with nutr...

Re: Throat pain, saliva, tears.

Hi, It happened again while meditating last night. What's most interesting is the pain is accompanied by an itchy sensation at the back of the throat. The type that you can relieve by coughing. The whole experience went away pretty quickly this time. It doesn't happen too frequently, but I have had ...

Throat pain, saliva, tears.

Hi, I have been noticing this for more than a year now; sometimes, when I get into a very relaxed state of concentration after watching the breath, my throat starts to hurt. My posture causes no tension at all in the throat area, and the rest of my body and mind are very peaceful, so I notice it in ...

Upāyikā 2.078

I was reading the translations of the Upāyikā on SuttaCentral when I came to this: http://suttacentral.net/up2/en/#2.078 A monk turns away from form, feeling, perception, consciousness , is free from desire for them, proceeds towards cessation, has no clinging, and abides having attained complete li...
