Divinity belief in Buddhism
What is the belief about divinity within Buddhism? Do Buddhists believe in a divine presence within each of us or the divinity within each of us so to speak? I realize there are several if not many sects within Buddhism so I'll be quite content with what folks that are Theravadan Buddhists believe. ...

Re: Grace
Thank you all for your input-very helpful. Besides your own views I am grateful for the link provided from the past thread on grace. Also the suttas that were offered. I read part of the other thread last night and will try to get to the rest of it today sometime while not running errands and shovel...

Grace
Hello,
How might or does Buddhism (Theravada) define Grace? I have heard the expression "There but for the Grace of god..." I've also heard the sound of Om described as the" sound of unity, peace, grace, and harmony." Thank you for any help with this

Re: Right speech/right action - what to do when you have got it wrong?
Thank you for this post. I read it a while back but the advice given here has come in helpful within the last couple of days. I had an exchange over the phone with a cell phone company employee or actually two of them. I was very harsh, abusive, and completely unskillful in my conversations with the...

Re: doubt
Thank you John,
I have a small metta practice so I will keep this in mind as I progress in deepening that practice. This was good to learn.

pegembara, In the first paragraph of one of your posts to this thread you wrote "The objects/contents of this consciousness differ from individual to individual but consciousness between individuals are identical." What does "consciousness between individuals are identical." mean...

Hello all,
I've been away for a bit and just read many of the posts. Thank you all for the input. I will take the advice offered and use it to deepen my practice. Each post seems like it may be very helpful in its own way so that I may become more skillful. Thank you-take care.

Thank you dhammanando for the quick response and for giving two different versions. Just from your post I can see that there is plenty to study about simply on doubt. Stay safe-metta.

doubt
Greetings, I struggle with doubt and have tried to find out just what the hindrance of doubt deals with. I read something on another site that mentioned 8 objects of doubt but really could only find 6 so I must be missing something somewhere. These 6 are doubt about whether or not the Buddha had bec...

Re: Giving money
Greetings, I'm not familiar with "making Dhana" among other terms or practices of Buddhism. I am familiar with karma yoga and time, talents, and treasures in Christian circles and Dhana seems the same. However I'm getting the feeling from what I've read here that it is primarily for monks....

Re: Question to venerable(s) about right speech
I can only speak to my opinion. Included in right speech is to refrain from lying yes? So if I tell the truth in what I saw or which way someone ran and the person/criminal gets caught and sentenced to death or killed during the chase I feel that is on them not me. They did the crime and that fruit ...

Re: Why is there so much hostility on Dhamma Wheel?
Hello, I don't spend much time on dhamma wheel but the time I spend here reading questions and answers has 1)been very informative 2)been very enjoyable. I haven't noticed the hostility on this site. On the other hand a supposedly Christian site that I spend time at is in my view very hostile at tim...
