Re: cultivating concentration

being mindful of the breath, and the mind itself throughout the day in whatever you happen to be doing will have direct implications in your meditation practice. I recommend listening to some of Thanissaro Bhikku's talks on the breath and mindfulness in general. Also Ajaan Lee has written some excel...

Re: Minimalist living

Does living minimally make one a better person? Does being a better person mean you will be a more minimal liver? chownah Living minimally, or simply, does not mean one will be a better person but when you start practicing and are in accord with the dhamma I think you begin to realize that there ar...

Re: Is Theravada straightforward?

Hi contemplating, This is an interesting part of the question. Are those descriptions really any more than "fingers pointing at the moon"? There are certainly these apparently straight-forward statements in the Suttas that people spend years arguing over. And the commentaries report details of expe...

Re: How skilfully is it to cut of grass with lawnmover?

so what then should one do? cut the grass with scissors to ensure that no sentient beings are harmed? Could it be equated to driving to work and not knowing that you ran over/into hundreds of bugs and insects, even though you most likely did?
