You do realize that something as simple as, "Does this apply to Theravadins and how they practice?" would suffice?
No, I did not.

Re: Reasoned Argument

Part of the purpose of this section of DW is "what can we learn from other traditions, religions and philosophies?"

If you presume that no one can learn anything from reading this piece, without me telling the readers what connections there are to Theravada, then do your gatekeeping duty.

Re: Golden Light Sutra

Noticed that this sutra, translated by Emmerick, was published by PTS, so there must be value for all Buddhists, not just Mahayana: https://fpmt.org/wp-content/uploads/teachers/zopa/advice/pdf/sutragoldenlight0207lttr.pdf I think that your comment would be comical for its naivity if it were not for...

Re: Golden Light Sutra

The past life event of our Buddha giving his body to be eaten by a starving tigress is in chapter 18. Here is how that chapter ends: I, the Tathagata Shakyamuni was formerly Mahasattva, Son of King Maharatha who made the tigress well. Shuddho-dana, the great king was the king called Maharatha, and Q...

Re: Buddha proselytizing

There is the story of ven punna. Who went to a country named sunaparanta. Some say this was in the middle East. Afghanistan perhaps. https://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/sn/sn35/sn35.088.than.html Seems that Sunaparanta was part of ancient Burma and Buddha visited there himself. https://www.arc...

Re: Buddha proselytizing

But which sutta(s) have that direction from Him to go beyond India to share Dhamma? Which sutta says they should go only in India? From Vinaya: Kd.1.11.1 Then the Lord addressed the monks, saying146: “I, monks, am freed from all snares, both those of devas147 and those of men. And you, monks, are f...

Buddha proselytizing

Not only did Buddha travel about India to share the Dhamma, but he told some of his disciples to go forth to all directions and do the same.

But which sutta(s) have that direction from Him to go beyond India to share Dhamma?

Try it in a different browser, perhaps Chrome, if you haven't tried that yet.
I only have Safari now, besides Bhikkhu Pesala says in above post, that the limit is still 500KB.

Concise Guide To Conservatism-2019-1.pdf That's strange, it's working okay for me. Maybe someone else could try? That way we'll know if it's something with your account or something we still need to do on our end? Since you are not trying to access directly from your computer or mine (of course), t...
