Re: What is the difference between Tanha and Upadana?

Thank you The Y. Could you make your answer bit more simple. He quote: And this, monks, is the noble truth of the origination of stress: the craving that makes for further becoming... SN 56.11 But he avoid to quote the previous text : dukkha ariya·sacca ... five upādāna 'k'khandhas are dukkha. Beca...

Re: What is the difference between Tanha and Upadana?

After this I will let you see "you can use this explanation in everywhere of tipitaka". Sutta. Saṃ. Ma. Dhammacakkappavattanasutta : Idaṃ kho pana, bhikkhave, dukkhaṃ ariya·saccaṃ : jāti·pi dukkhā, jarā·pi dukkhā (byādhi·pi dukkho) maraṇam·pi dukkhaṃ, a·p·piyehi sampayogo dukkho, piyehi vippayogo du...

Re: Dependent Origination VS seventeen thought moment?

In a closer analysis of these two, I felt both these concepts address the same. Yes, it is. Whole of abhidhamma is describing the insight meditation's object. But the object of insight meditation is every conditional arising stuffs. So, abhidhamma must describe everything in paṭiccasamuppāda. ie: S...

Re: Need details

Consciousness is present in the 4th jhana. While Abhidhamma has some different ideas to the Pali suttas; Abhidhamma would not be so extreme & discordant to say the 4th jhana has no consciousness. The fact is both sutta and abhidhamma never said "there is no consciousness of 4th-jhāna-attaining peop...

Re: Temperature born matter and plants?

Okay thank you, do the suttas allow for temperature born matter at all though? Or in the suttas is all matter necessarily the of kamma/volitional formations? If not, how did the elders explain this? It is appear in the similitude of Sutta. Aṅ. (1): eka-duka-tikanipātā accāyikāsutta : “tīṇimāni, bhi...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

Note5: Sakkāya is not similar to sakkāya-diṭṭhi in mostly suttas such as sakkāyasutta . Sakkāya is 5 aggregates, which is engaging by diṭṭhi-clinging (diṭṭhi-upādāna). But sakkāya-diṭṭhi is diṭṭhi-clinging, which engaging 5 aggregates. So, mostly english version, which I random checked, translated ...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

The questions are easy, if you study them by the right method. The real practice is uncountable harder. You all guys often say "the question is complex, the answer is not clear, the tipitaka is wrong, the atthakathā is fabulous, etc". But you never said "I never study by the buddhist ancient study ...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

(Note: the same format are relating to the same format.) You never try to prove my answer, so you didn't discover this sutta before me. I told you all guys: So, sakkāya - micchā - anu - diṭṭhi means often mis - understanding , micchā - anu-diṭṭhi (verb act as noun), of sakkāya (object), causes and ...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

2/2 About SN 35.166, my opinion is if a person believes conditioned things are impermanent ( anicca ) but also believes these impermanent things can bring happiness ( sukha ) I never describe like that. "All ariya must understand 3 characterizes, but while enlightening moment, their just one stronge...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

1/2 Because you never learn naya in netti-pakaraṇa , never enlighten, and never been a good teacher , so you think like that. If you learned naya in netti-pakaraṇa , you will know why the 1st-saṅgāyanā-saṅgha categorized tipitaka like that. I learned and answer follow to the 1st-saṅgāyanā-saṅgha's t...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

They translated it follow pāli's samāsa. For me clung-to-aggregates means clung which is aggregate. It is the same as clinging aggregate. But if they translate in full term as "aggregates engage in clinging & grasping", it is too long. I understand what you mean, but you will forget it when you can ...

This is confusing ,

Identity view (sakkāyadiṭṭhi).

self view (attānudiṭṭhi).

In English , both are similar .
sakkāyadiṭṭhi and are similar. They are synonym.

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

Note1: Sakkāya is not only internal, because there are internal clinging-aggregates, internal sakkāya, and external clinging-aggregates, external sakkāya, which are contemplating by the practitioner in Cūlavedallasutta and Sutta. Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

I'm sorry I refer to the wrong source. So, in this case the buddha can predict, because buddha maybe his teacher, the listening-bhikkhu will enlighten by animitta-vimokkha , so the buddha taught impermanence to him. And this bhikku maybe memorized micchādiṭṭhi from buddha before, so the buddha taugh...

Re: Sakkaya Ditthi is not self-view!!

Your 3 suttas, which near by each other , describing each other. Mostly words of them can use in the other sutta, such as anicca, dukkha, anatta, of these 3 sutta contexts all refering to saṅkhata (clinging-aggregates), which means arisen by causes. This may be true but you have not explained why t...
