Re: The great Abhidhamma Pitaka authenticity debate

OK, I see the confusing. The commentaries were written down hundreds of years later. However, that doesn't mean that the ideas were not much earlier. My reading of the suttas suggests that they are very brief summaries, and that the Buddha and his students were providing a lot more details (this is...

Re: The great Abhidhamma Pitaka authenticity debate

It seems to be a very common error to mix up the Abhidhamma Pitaka and later Comentaries. Mind moments are a much later development than the Abhidhamma... Agree. I had the same error of understanding until you point that out some time back. Here is the discussion. https://discourse.suttacentral.net...

Re: The great Abhidhamma Pitaka authenticity debate

Would you be so kind as to give a link to translations, or a link to a site such as Sutta Central where it is easier to work out exactly which passages you are quoting? I already searched it in google before you asked for it from me, but I didn't found the translation. I think it is very easier tha...

Re: The great Abhidhamma Pitaka authenticity debate

Citta-khaṇa was sāriputta's theory that derived from above A.N. sutta, so it was not appeared too much in suttanta, but appear too much in sāriputta's canons and in 1st saṅgāyanā's commentary which sāriputta's students were very importance as the sutta's commentators because buddha even praised sāri...

Re: The great Abhidhamma Pitaka authenticity debate

.... I gave you the pāli link to seaching for the reason yourself, why you never read it? Do you found your opinion by yourself from pāli canon? Or you just believe your professors, but never read any abhidhamma-pāli and commentary-pāli by yourself? In ancient commentary, that authored in buddha ti...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

because at 1st saṅgāyanā, the Sangha made the unanimous decision to keep all vinaya rules. You are anti commentary, so you distort my translated history from commentary, by your opinion . By the way, what is your opinion on that fact that Abhidhamma is not mentioned in the discriptions of both 1st ...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

Why it is very serious? because at 1st saṅgāyanā, the Sangha made the unanimous decision to keep all vinaya rules. And in the commentary make it as the rule to every buddhist people to deny tipitaka/commentary editing. Just new author canon with clearly define as a new canon accept. Well, some peop...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

I am sorry for too late answering, I have to use many days to translate your english quote. its commentary (AN-a III 143) says ‘there is no pursuit etc of the magga that lasts one mind-moment, but bringing into being the second magga etc: of that, surely it is said “he pursues, develops and cultivat...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

Nothing difference between suttanta and abhidhamma and commentary, when you deeply understood pali language. Where is abidhammists' explanation? I found just the pāli's relationship. Abidhamma is just a dictionary that suttanta-memorizer, sāriputta-mahāsāvaka, made. So, I can explain below without a...

if that bhikkhu enlightening nibbāna as sotāpanna, and if then that sotāpanna go ahead to practice lokiya-magga for sakadāgāmi-ariya's enlightenment. Do you know texts or works summarizing that practice of lokiya-magga at that point?. Curious to know how the practice can be focused at that point If...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

Now I can believe a bit more that there may be good reasoning in Abhidhamma I had been a science-math program in high school. I very recommend abhidhamma for people, who need to access sutta deeply in the reason. Many doctors and nurses, who learned hard about science, in thailand try to learn abhi...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

If you trust in commentary and abhidhamma, This quote is the direct text from mahāsatipaṭṭhānasutta-commentary. It is very clear. Maggasaccaniddesavaṇṇanā 402.Ayamevāti aññamaggapaṭikkhepanatthaṃ niyamanaṃ. Ariyoti taṃ taṃ maggavajjhehi kilesehi ārakattā ariyabhāvakarattā ca ariyo. Dukkhe ñāṇantiādi...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

Reading is very bad method of study. I often try to tell that how much important of reciting and memorizing tipitaka-pāli, but no one focus on it. So, useless question still going on from reading. my english is terrible, so I will not quote the translation, because it is very hard for me to find th...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

Maybe theY can explain this. But I think I have to break it down into some simpler English for it to be understandable: TheY , can you explain this? Why is it this sequence: 1 lokiya-magga (long period) 2 lokuttara-magga (one moment) 3 phala (one moment) (4 times... for sotapanna, sakadagami, anaga...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

Hello: It would be very interesting to see what abhidhamma followers think about the Suttas posted by Zom, because i still don´t understand how can they justify that view. Regards. You can't not understand abhidhamma if you still be superficial. In thailand the abhidhamma course need at least 7 yea...

The question asking about magga-vithī, but you showing us vipassanā-vithī, why? Because you never recite and memorize tipitaka-pāli. I'm showing you what is said about 4 paths and 4 fruits in the suttas. Nowhere there you will find another kind of explanation, like "one-moment-path". There is, for ...

Re: The arising of the four paths endures for only one mind-moment

If you want sutta (that is - valid) explanation for Paths and Fruits, you should read this (SN 48.18): While we talking about the end of meditation and the end of sutta, you showing us the meditating and the middle of sutta. The question asking about magga-vithī, but you showing us vipassanā-vithī,...

Most 24 hour-companies in thailand, closed theselves 10 hour today, because their staffs need to join the funeral. Amazing! I see the unity of half hundred-million thai-people on the road, today. Really! thai people in black dress on the road around thailand for our most beloved #KingRama9 cremation...
