It took me a while to realize that Theravada and Mahayana are more like different religions than different schools in the same religion. In general, regarding prostitution, I would think the concern for your health should be reason enough (if sila or other matters are not enough), with the high risk of acquiring some disease or terminal illness, would be deterrent enough. That's true for your average street hooker. HIgher end prosit...

This might not be a buddhist answer but learn a martial art like kickboxing or brazilian jiu jitsu and gain some self confidence.
