Re: Drinking 0.5% non alcoholic beer

From what I hear the best ones are from Germany but they are a little pricey. I would love to try out the ones from Japan if I can find them here. The one I tried so far is Coors Edge which wasn't that bad.

Re: Drinking 0.5% non alcoholic beer

A study conducted by the department of psychology at Indiana University said, "Because non-alcoholic beer provides sensory cues that simulate alcoholic beer, this beverage may be more effective than other placebos in contributing to a credible manipulation of expectancies to receive alcohol",[8] ma...

Re: Drinking 0.5% non alcoholic beer

Does this constitute as a precept violation? Yes. Forget the Buddha. Try to convince a policeman to get away from a fine that you had only 0.5 alcoholic Beer. https://dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=19594&p= I've read that a slice of chocolate cake and a cup of orange juice have the same level...

Greetings,

If you can become intoxicated and heedless on 0.5% non-alcoholic beer then fair play to you.

:toast:

Moreover, I think an effort to do so would just lead to bloating and frequent urination, neither of which are violations of the precepts.

Metta,
Paul. :)

Re: Is it strange to oppose the Lotus Sutra but be ok with the Pureland Sutras?

Is it strange for someone who holds a sort of Theravada position (but with a soul) to completely oppose the blasphemy of the Lotus Sutra in saying Buddha told pretty lies for 40 years and then finally taught Mahayana on his death-bed. But to not oppose another Mahayana Sutra, like the Pureland Sutr...

Re: What you will do after Stream Entry ? (Poll)

celebrate with hookers and cocaine :woohoo: (just kidding) I mean if you're just with the hookers and cocaine, not partaking in either, then you're good. Like, "Hey I'm just having this party to point out the fact that I don't need either of these things to make me happy." At that point the hookers...

Re: Trying to introduce an abusive alcoholic father to weed?

Yes, the self-reflection it can induce and therapeutic effects were what had sparked this idea. Mostly for his own good, he should see and acknowledge his flaws and the horrible karma he generates through his actions.. But perhaps it might make things worse as Aloka said, and give him another form ...

Re: Trying to introduce an abusive alcoholic father to weed?

Its the safer alternative and from my experience also makes you to self reflect and see the flaws in one's character on a deeper level. From a strict Buddhist view both of them should be avoided but I can't denounce the therapeutic effects.

Are whoremongers always destined for lower rebirth? From Snp 1.6: Buddha Sehi dārehi asantuṭṭho Vesiyā supadussati ; Dussati paradāresu, Taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ Unsatisfied with his own wife, with others’ wives he’s seen in tow, corrupted too with prostitutes— that’s the way to disaster’s woe. https...
