Re: Why Are There So Many Black Buddhists?

"Buddhists of color" hugely outnumber white Buddhists. There are millions upon millions of buddhists in asia and India/Sri Lanka, and only tens of thousands of white-skin buddhists in western countries. This concern and hand-wringing over inclusion and equality and diversity within Buddhism... is j...

Re: Did the Buddha ever see the sea?

I was searching for an end to suffering
Sorry if If you felt uncomfortable.
But perhaps Buddha did not talk about a round earth was the very reason it is not relevant to the goal that is the end to suffering.

If that is the case, probably the whole thread should be moved to the other (Greenies) website or even to the Mahayana site.
Not really.
See Retro's answer to my question.
This is an indirect question about Buddha's teaching.

Re: Did the Buddha ever see the sea?

Actually, I raised the same question I found the answer. "This great earth, Ananda, is established upon liquid, the liquid upon the atmosphere, and the atmosphere upon space. And when, Ananda, mighty atmospheric disturbances take place, the liquid is agitated. And with the agitation of the liquid, t...

Re: Did the Buddha ever see the sea?

Anyone with critical thinking can visualise that the earth is floating on the space. Which sutta? Please provide a link? Thanks :) I can't recall the Sutta but the Budd...

Re: What exactly is Ekagata. (One pointedness)?

:goodpost:
Bksuboti.
That is how I understand it too
The question now as pe DD here is whether we can say Ekagata for the one-pointedness of the unwholesome consciousness.
Another question is whether we can use the term Ekagata for the one picture frame.

Re: Can I become Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King or Gandhi?

when there is enlightenment there is no identity view
Identity view is eliminated by the Sotapanna.
Self identity (conceit or mana) is eradicated by an Arahant.

Can I become Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King or Gandhi?

Can I become Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King or Gandhi? I just wonder whether becoming an Arahant is something similar to try to become one of your admired heroes.
