Now they found light is a particle too. Is it possible sound also a particle? I think Citta arises and perishes knowingly for all ...

One of my friends insisted that I should watch the following video.
It got a Buddhist perspective.
The following is only the trailer.

Hi RB I see your point but it is not stealing but they do not have the Brhama Vihara mainly the compassion. (metta, karuna, mudita and upekka) Say there are only two people in the world and one small land to cultivate. They gambled and one person lost his share and he became a slave to the other. Th...

At Sāvatthī. “Mendicants, if you take pleasure in form, you take pleasure in suffering. If you take pleasure in suffering, I say you’re not exempt from suffering. If you take pleasure in feeling … perception … choices … consciousness, you take pleasure in suffering. If you take pleasure in suffering...

At Sāvatthī. “Mendicants, before my awakening—when I was still unawakened but intent on awakening—I thought: ‘What’s the gratification, the drawback, and the escape when it comes to form … feeling … perception … choices … and consciousness?’ Then it occurred to me: ‘The pleasure and happiness that a...

At Savatthi. Then the Venerable Ānanda approached the Blessed One, paid homage to him, sat down to one side, and said to him: “Venerable sir, it is said, ‘cessation, cessation.’ Through the cessation of what things is cessation spoken of?” “Form, Ānanda, is impermanent, conditioned, dependently aris...

Re: The Old "In-Out In-Out"

Your practice must be made to apply to your everyday living situation. That is your laboratory. It provides the trials and challenges you need to make your practice deep and genuine. It's the fire that purifies your practice of deception and error, the acid test that shows you when you are getting ...

It is great to see admin and moderators in one forum become just a member in another forum.
We like to see how skilful they are when they are in someone else's shoes.

The bodhi tree doesn't get a mention
As far as I know, Bodhi tree does not attract birds and bees etc as it does not have flowers.
That is the reason Bodhi tree is an ideal place for sitting as you do not have to worry about bird droppings.

Which of these two Bhante G books do you think would be most useful to read before I started practicing the Anapanasati Sutra? Eight mindful steps to happiness or Mindfulness in plain english? "Mindfulness in Plain English" is his best-known book, and is an introduction to meditation practice. If y...

Re: Can you see Dependent Origination instantly at this (thought) moment?

Hi Justine
Agree.
That is why Retro qualifies the question to include thoughts observation in Vipassana sense.
For instance, can you see how thought arise and perishes in the empirical sense?

Is nirvana an impossible dream, then?
No.

I think that butterfly is a special species for Queensland
I think is called a Ulysses butterfly. I planted a special tree to attract these butterflies but they never visit my place. So I am trying my luck with the Buddha's own Bodhi Tree. :|
