Re: What is the difference between Tanha and Upadana?

Dependent Origination must also include "non-becoming" ("vibhava").
This is incorrect.
How can you include Vibhava (Nibbana) in DO?

Re: Seeking scriptural source for "all defilements temporarily suppressed when in jhana"

I'm wondering if it might have come from a later text.
I can't recall reading anywhere that all defilements temporarily suppressed when in Jhana.
Jhana specifically refer to five hindrances.
Where did you find it?

Could Tanha lead to Bhava?

Could Tanha lead to Bhava?
As per Dependent Origination Upadana lead to Bhava.
The question is whether Tanha alone is sufficient condition to lead to Bhava.
Do Arahants got Tanha?

Re: Seeking scriptural source for "all defilements temporarily suppressed when in jhana"

There are five mental constituents which are chiefly representative of the first meditative absorption, and are therefore called the factors of absorption (jhananga). For each of these there is, according to Buddhist commentarial tradition, one of the five hindrances that is specifically harmful for...

Re: Trouble with buddhism view on suicide

Sorry to here about the death of your father. I can related to you as two of my close relatives commit suicide. Even though the Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country the suicide rate in Sri Lanka is the highest. This is so ironic! Kamma and the result associate with suicide is very complex. I just leave a...

Re: What is the difference between Tanha and Upadana?

I am not sure about the above. I think before a sense object is "sensual" is must be regarded as "beautiful", "sexy", "delicious", etc This idea is similar to Aggregate and Clinging-aggregate. The way I understand Kama refers to five senses spear(ie: sensuality clinging) and Idea and intellect refe...

Re: What is the difference between Tanha and Upadana?

The Buddha did not teach Kama, Bhava & Vibhava Tanha in Dependent Origination
This logic appears to be incorrect.
If you find a description of Tanha in another teaching of Buddha it might as well applicable to DO.

Which happiness do you want me to report? I think you are in the right track. Use the following instead. How many hours per day are you happy when you awake or half sleep? ========= Within the Buddhist sutras, dukkha is divided in three categories: Dukkha-dukkha, the dukkha of painful experiences. ...

It appears you are over estimating my knowledge. That is why I said I do not need a technical answer. Thanks for the compl...
