Yes it is a good idea.
I used to consume about ten cup of tea a day with one sugar.
My doctor keep on warning me for my elevated blood sugar level.
I did all source of thing to get the reading down without a success.
Then I decided to take tea without sugar.

Re: My experience with jhana and samadhi, comments welcome

The way I understand the Sutta Jhana mainly explain if four stages.
Abhidhamma Jhana explain it five stages.
Basically there is no mark difference in them.
When I say Sutta Jhana what I meant was to follow the description is Sutta.

Re: Diversity among mods

Hi SarathW The request for diversity and representation (women etc.) is a damaging trend. This is a sign that we are living in morally bankrupt society. Why do you say this SarathW? The discussion about women are heavily censored and people are frightened to make their opinion. I guess we must trea...

Re: Did you observe Uposatha today?

I do not. But I take every effort to observe all the precepts for the best of my ability. Some of the precepts I break. - Sleep in a luxury bed - Using aftershave - sometimes I get angry and sware To be clear I have never observed Uposatha or being to a formal meditation place. Perhaps you know I sp...

Re: What is Vitakka, Avitakka and Savitakka according to Sutta?

once it has been successfully retained it is savitakka ( fixed thought) It appears this is the understanding of some Sri Lankan teachers. But there is not Sutta support for this. The way I understand it Vitakka is the noun and Savitakka is the adjective. I am waiting for an answer from Ven. Dhamman...

Re: What is Vitakka, Avitakka and Savitakka according to Sutta?

At the 4th stage the mind is fixed ( savitakka) on a single object or thought.
The way I understand the Vitakka and Savitakka are the same meaning.
