Re: Who are the contemporary meditation monks?

I have found Mindfulness Bliss and Beyond to be really different than my experience in meditation.
Could you give an example where you think his teaching is not in accordance with the Sutta?

Re: High Birth Low Birth

we could have been anything (even an animal) in a previous birth. There are many Jataka that Buddha was an animal in a previous birth. Perhaps Buddha wanted to point out this in a different way. If we trace back our ancestry there will not be anything to be proved about our present or the past. It i...

Re: What is the difference between Namarupa and Anusaya?

:rolleye: My impression of the term "paticcasammupada" is it literally means "dependent- co -arising". This means all 12 conditions must co-arise, together. If this is true, then no dependent co-arising of nama-rupa occurs to a Buddha because co-arising must mean nama-rupa co-arises with ignorance....

In which Jhana do you experience the following concentration?

From DN 33:

Other three species of concentration:—concentrative insight into ‘emptiness,’ ‘signlessness,’ ‘end of baneful longing.’

What is the difference between Namarupa and Anusaya?

What is the difference between Namarupa and Anusaya?
It is considered that Arhants has destroyed the Anusaya or eliminate the ten fetters.
In the same time, Arahant's consciousness is not established in Namarupa.
It appears there is a relation between Namarupa and Anusaya.

:goodpost: I like this simile a lot; https://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/mn/mn.020.than.html ...Just as the thought would occur to a man walking quickly, 'Why am I walking quickly? Why don't I walk slowly?' So he walks slowly. The thought occurs to him, 'Why am I walking slowly? Why don't I sta...

Re: Do Arahants have Vinnana and Namarupa?

I have posted this question in another forum. The answers seem to be divided. ======= So the short answer is, no, in case of an arhat there's no vijnana and namarupa - there's prajna and samskara/shunya ========= Arahants who are still living are those with "fuel" remaining and sense faculties (sala...

Re: Do Arahants have Vinnana and Namarupa?

If living Arahants have Anidassana Vinnana they also should have the Namarupa.
I think the object of Nibbana is the Namarupa for them.

Re: How perception be wholesome or unwholesome?

According to Abhidhamma, perception/sanna is under the SabbaCittaSadharana group Thanks, I have forgotten that. ============== There are seven mental factors which are called universals because they are common to every state of consciousness. Two are feeling and perception mentioned above. The orde...
