Re: Is Nibbana cessation of being?

Thanks, Paul I think you are correct. When you gave me the lead I could trace that to Pali Sutta. It is Bhavanirodho. >Ye pana te bhonto samaṇabrāhmaṇā evaṃvādino evaṃdiṭṭhino: ‘atthi sabbaso bhavanirodho’ti, sace tesaṃ bhavataṃ samaṇabrāhmaṇānaṃ saccaṃ vacanaṃ, ṭhānametaṃ vijjati—yaṃ diṭṭheva dh...

Re: Is it possible to practice Brahama Vihara without reaching the fourth Jhana?

It seems that Buddha wanted to differentiate the BV practice by the average householder and the recluse. It appears that BV should be practiced in conjunction with the four Jhanas to qualify for Noble Eightfold Path. "And what are the six kinds of household equanimity? The equanimity that arises whe...

For example, the phrase: "Sabbe dhamma anatta": "all things are not-self". A translation of: "all patterns are not-self" is too limited and would be contrary to many teachings

If people want to talk politics they should be able to.
Perhaps these talks should be limited to "Small talks"

It's better to teach kids how to think for themselves, and give them the analytical tools to let them choose their own views and beliefs, rather than be indoctrinated in someone else's.
Agree.
Somehow we like to brainwash our children to the way of our thinking.
This is due to our insecurity.

Hence the world is perceive thorough the five aggregate. Because the origination of world is the result of the five aggregate ...

Most of the time what we discuss in temple is politics and business.
Great thing about DW is that we have the option to ignore those discussions.

Problem is not that simple.
Animal skin fetches more money than the meat content.
Animals are raised not only for meat consumption.
It does not mean we should not be vegetarians.
I consume meat but I enjoy vegetables more than the meat.
