Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

paṇḍaraṃ Thank you @Lal for the above post. I can recall Ven WA was talking about this term. What I can recall is "Pandaram" means something similar to a blacksmith hardening the steel. I may be wrong. In Sri Lanka, we use the term "Pannara" to indicate the hardening the steel. https://youtu.be/8X1...

Re: Wrong Livelihood: Monk’s Alms round

Agree.

Re: Why Dhammawheel is not growing?

My participation in Dhammawheel diminished because, as I studied more, I put more emphasis on practice and less on textual study. Dhammawheel became less relevant to my daily practice, so I left it behind. I pop back occasionally to see what's what, but usually the discussion is at an academically ...

Re: Wrong livelihood?

i think it's same as meat eating. Whether you are just one buyer or just one employee, still you are "proportionally" supporting the final outcome--animal slaughter or many bad outcomes of liquor consumption. What about using and consuming soap, ice cream and ferilser which contain animal products?...

ranslated: “I consider, bhikkhus, that there is no phenomenon that comes and goes so quickly as citta. It is not easy to find an analogy (a simile) to show how quickly citta can change.”
Good reminder.
Unfortunately, this was eventually translated as billions of thought-moments per second!

citta, manō, mānasan, hadayan, pandaran, manō manāyatanam, mana indriyam (or manindriyam), viññāna, viññānakkhandha. Do you find them in the Sutta? Re: Buddhism Expired, says Gnanananda

So it is fine, at least for another 2,454 years. That'd be a very optimistic number according to one of the smartest guys one earth, Stephen Hawking. The Hawk said that we humans only get less than 600 yrs to go before checkmate unless we find a way to mass migrate to a different earth by then. So ...

Re: Is it okey to buy Meat in a foodstore and eat?

I think when we consume anything we should use them with reflection. If we eat meat we should reflect on the pain and suffering of the dying animal. When we use cloths and other materials we should reflect on the people involved in the supply chain. Puttamansa Sutta. https://www.accesstoinsight.org/...
