Re: Race, gender a no go?
To talk for myself alone - for me there is no problem if both sides get censored or both allowed - the problem is when the censorship is leaning towards one side : one side gets censored faster one side gets a post removed while another gets the whole thread removed ect

just to clarify that i didnt mean that he should get some written agreement - only a general understanding with the monk so their would be no surprises for both sides - and plus it can be a good way to assess the different monasteries thanks for replying martin you might be right but personally i st...

and wouldn't you say its worth a shot to ask him in an email - if for health reason he will allow an exception ? i dont think he would be offended by the question and if thats the case there is only a chance of gain and no chance of risk

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
just was worried you wouldn't tell them about your health at all I would never do such a thing. It never crossed my mind. I just think that it may be better to talk about my case in person rather than by email. Maybe, I haven't been so clear. Thanks for your suggestions. Abhayagiri in Northern Cali...

I cant find the quote but their used to be a member here that used a drug (dont want to advertise but not weed,LSD,mushroom ) that he thought helped him reach jhana - he said that all drugs are bad except this drug and that he uses it safely ect At the end he said he was mistaken (not because of pre...

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
as far as i know Wat Chomtong also serves 2 meals a day (6:30 and 11:30) of course you should check it before going there
How much do you eat regularly? - if you eat 2 huge meals a day (6:30 and 11:30) is it enough ?

Re: question on mindfulness through the day
As far as my understanding and my current teacher instructions (Mahasi Sayadaw technique) - i dont try to think of nothing - you just should notice things happening and you will see the characteristics automatically - its enough you know about the 3 characteristics you dont need to think about them ...

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
I didnt have any monastery in mind just wanted to know how "flexible" you are in your choices - if you have more choices than just one place sure its a good idea to wait till the idea ripens - just was worried you wouldn't tell them about your health at all - some reasons to tell : 1 . i think its a...

Re: I've tried, I've failed. / eating habit / health
just want to add that unless someone here in the forum will find another solution I would talk to the monastery before taking up residence and make sure they allow you the medical exemption. seems like the best idea - to write to some monasteries you like and ask them (by E-mail maybe) if they would...

Re: buddha tattoo
