Looking for meditation guidance over Skype

Hello, I've been meditating daily since March, and have made some progress, but I think I would benefit greatly from some interaction and guidance. I have run into a few hurdles here and there, so the guidance of an experienced meditator would be appreciated. So I am looking for someone who would be...

Re: Chest tension during meditation

I also felt a lot of tension in my chest, when I first started meditating. You might want to try doing some metta meditation. At least that's what helped relive some of that tension. You might also want to try actively relaxing any spots of tension, that you feel in your body. You can also foucs on...

Re: Chest tension during meditation

It's very easy to switch from observing the breath to controlling it, and controlling it will introduce all sorts of tensions ("Am I doing it right?", "I must slow this down," etc) If you're observing, try not to be at all judgemental. Let your body do what it wants. Watch it as...

Chest tension during meditation

I am experiencing tension and pain in the solar plexus area when meditating. It seems to be related to my breathing. I try to simply observe the breath, but the chest feels tight and after a while, it gets painful. The problem seems to come and go. I suspect that this problem is somehow related to s...

Erratic breath

I've been meditating daily for some months now but have developed some issues with my breathing during meditation. I did some yoga exercises that caused some ribcage muscle pain (intercostal muscle pain), which caused breathing to be painful. This made my breathing during meditation erratic, since t...

Rising body temperature whilst meditating

I follow the standard meditation practice as described by Yuttadhammo in his youtube videos. When I meditate, I get a drastic rise in body temperature after some time. It's not a problem, but it gets to the point where sweat drips from my forehead. It is in no way unpleasant and does not interfere w...

Re: Talking about the Dhamma without talking religion

Yes, I agree that the empty calories analogy would fit better in that context. But I think the word intoxication is useful in other contexts. It implies poisoning, which I think is an important aspect because it illustrates the difference between intoxication and happiness. My country has a terrible...

Talking about the Dhamma without talking religion

Hi, I've been interested in Buddhism for many years, and in the last 3, I have more or less accepted it as my true direction. I like to talk about this with people, and this usually yields interesting thoughts. But I sometimes find that the people around me are much more likely to really listen if I...
