Re: Sattva/Louise
Thanks everyone. I left this site quite awhile ago and I actually don't spend as much time online. I even got rid of my Facebook account. Health wise, I have had so many health issues and surgeries over the last few years, including one in September, one in October, and one in November. I almost di...

Re: What's the appeal of "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"?
because defending a right need not do more about the opinion than show how it is covered by the right to express it. an atterney need not be a pedophile to defend someone who is accused of pedaphilia. Some people interpret it that way, though. Guilty by association. doesnt make the attourney guilty...

Re: What's the appeal of "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"?
It is defending the right to hold and express views, it isn't a defence of a particular view. In practice, how is there a difference between the two? because defending a right need not do more about the opinion than show how it is covered by the right to express it. an atterney need not be a pedoph...

Well, it seems silly, to say the least. To be willing to die so that another person can say whatever they want??! This seems far more how things really are: http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2005/11/28/2911leunig_wideweb__470x310,2.jpg It is defending the right to hold and express views, it isn't a de...

Hi binocular But what is the appeal of saying "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"? Why would anyone say such a thing?? if you know the original context of the saying itself should give you a better understanding. or at least why it has been used to exp...

All of that is made-up nonsense, designed to fool the fools. There are no facts behind this obvious nonsense. Yet, some of those who live in a right-wing bubble of disinformation continue to believe it. I expect more intelligence and awareness from my Buddhist friends. So what exactly is the disinf...

Develop metta for yourself. reflect on how everyone is the owner of their kamma and that kamma is not always instant. and the situations could be your own past kamma ripening. there is no need to keep hold of the negativity so when these thoughts come up use the methods found in MN20 and try to deve...

Re: Abortion poll
This is a hot topic here atm as the law is changing. I am against abortion but understand it is better to have proper medical supervision and support extra allowances for other reasons than an unwanted pregnancy due to the complex emotions and difficult decision being made. I remember watching a fil...

Re: 30 hours without any sleep and counting
There could be other reasons, but the obvious one... I do hope you get some rest soon, and will keep an eye for an update. I would recommend just sticking with resting in bed, one bad habit is giving up trying to sleep. So even if you end up meditating all night would be better and more restful than...

Re: In the Buddha-dhamma, how should "noumena" be regarded?
Bearing in mind the topic which brought this one about I view them as sankata-dhammas and dhammas as things in a broad sense. we do understand these things in a particular way even if that way is not exactly accurate, and they are drscribed in a particular way in the suttas hence they are sankata-dh...

Hi Paul
If I am understanding the elements in DO correctly in your understanding they are the perception of solidity, heat, movement... regarding the object rather than the external facts of their existance.
