Re: The Concept of Emptiness in Pali Literature
Hello all, just read the book by Medawachchiye Dhammajothi Thero (The Concept of Emptiness in Pali Litearture). Is is quite a good book, though it needs an urgent review to correct misspellings. Basically it shows how the view of emptiness is the same in early buddhist suttas and in nagarjuna's madh...

Re: Lay Buddhists and the end of sexual intercourse?
Sex is suffering (1st truth) But is sex cause for suffering? (2nd truth). This first one we can find in the canon. But what about the second one? Re: Buddha omniscient

Specially I am concerned with Abiddhama's cosmology: the representation of a world system as containing continents a...

Re: Buddha omniscient
Welcome luisisrael, That's an interesting question. But perhaps interpreting the Suttas and Abhihdhamma as if they were a scientific treatise on geology and geography would be to miss the point. :anjali: Mike But then what is the point of those teachings? "In the same way, monks, those things ...

Re: Buddha omniscient
Hello friends.
If the Wise was indeed omniscient, if his knowledge was unhindered, then why would he talk about Jambudipa continent and all the cosmos that is described in unprecise way in the Abidhama?
thank you
Luis
