Re: About Khuddaka-nikaya

Greetings,

I used to own this book but I gave it to a bhikkhu from Ceylon who wanted to digitize it and study it with others.

I *think* he e-mailed me a digital copy once it was done, but I am not 100% sure. I will try to remember to check later on and get back to you.

Paul. :)

Re: Activism supporting Rohingya

Greetings, If I read it wrong then this would appear make what I read about kamma irrelevant to the topic. Not really. Kamma is action, and if we're not concerned about the actions performed by certain individuals then why would this topic exist? Kamma also, is strictly individual... It recognizes t...

Re: Activism supporting Rohingya

Greetings DooDoot, Funny how you jump from the doctrine of Oppression Olympics to the Pali suttas; as though the Buddha would agree with the doctrine of Oppression Olympics. Are you serious? That's not what I said. Please read what is said. Listen properly this time... emphasis added... So, if we se...

Re: Activism supporting Rohingya

Greetings chownah, This is the unintended consequence of your posting about your beloved "oppression olypmics". Binocular already responded to your earlier comment about "unintended consequence" here . I'll take her words as my own. Let me be clear... Words have meaning. If the reader introduces thi...

Re: Activism supporting Rohingya

Greetings DooDoot, Well, my impression was your Olympics post inferred Muslim persecution is mere propaganda & unwarranted. No, not at all. How else would a reasonable person view this image below? The diagram represents the typical outcomes from a process known as the Oppression Olympics The Oppres...

Re: Activism supporting Rohingya

Greetings DooDoot, Is it? According to whom exactly? According to the majority, who ... Hold on. So literally the majority of people advocate killing Muslims for being Muslims? Really?... Personally, I've never in my life met anyone who would suggest anything so preposterous. Unless you've got any p...

Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

Greetings L.N., When one comments about the person, it is "playing the man." Many, many times, we witness Members playing the person, not the ball. Comments such as some of those in the poll in the other Topic illustrate playing the person, not the ball. True, but do you not see that by virtue of ho...

In short, since 9/11 (and prior), its OK to murder Muslims because they are Muslims.
Is it? According to whom exactly?

Greetings DooDoot,

Thanks for the data points, but are you able to tie that back specifically to the current Rohingya scenario being discussed?

Re: Activism supporting Rohingya

Greetings Aloka, Sorry if this is off topic - but Dzongsar Jamyang Khentse is hardly a reliable person to quote about anything, since he appears to have been excusing Sogyal Lakar's abuse of female students over the years, as well as Sogyal's more recent punching of a nun in the stomach, which has r...

Re: Right Speech: Getting Personal

Greetings, When one expresses the truth about one's views of another persons personal characteristics or state of mind, it may be the truth about the views one holds, but it may not be the truth about the person to whom the comments are directed. State of mind cannot be known directly, but speech ca...

Re: Right Speech: Getting Personal

Greetings L.N., Some of the choices in the poll are personalized comments, some are not. It may be worth asking, which of the comments would you direct at Bhante Dhammanando or another venerable monk? All of those which happened to be true. Which, incidentally, happens to be none of them in the case...

We all have expectations. It's human nature, and part of what kept us alive on the savannah tens of thousands of years ago. I agree that here, it is time to lower expectations.
Recalibration of expectations complete.

Re: Are Vipassana Nanas silly?

Greetings, This probably isn't the best sub-forum to ask about people's personal perspectives , because Discovering Theravada is intended to be an arena by which to understand the Theravada perspective on matters. We can move the topic if you like? In the meantime, I can say the framework of the vip...
