IMHO:
3. There is suffering

If you expand it by the three aspects, it is:
- there is suffering, dukkha
- dukkha should be understood
- dukkha has been understood.

Re: Giving to beggars

To me it sounds like you have a tough time, letting go of your money(/donation), after you have given it to somebody else ? To me it sounds like you've decided to judge my motivation without even knowing me. Yes, I admit it could seem like that, when quoted without the context, I commented on. Yes ...

Re: Giving to beggars

Some of the beggars here in the UK aren't always genuine. Here's an example: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/facing-jail-professional-beggar-who-fleeced-the-public-but-lived-in-300000-house-8704984.html A very poor looking woman with no teeth used to ask people for money outside a supermarket ...

Re: Abusing the Buddha

I don't consider "a good starting-point to work on" being the same as "just be silent and not think of it any further". What I tried to hint on, was that ones feeling offended, might have an internal root within one self; and one would have to peel of one layer of the onion, to ...

Re: Abusing the Buddha

I think that the feeling identified with Buddhism, is a good starting-point to work on ; does one have his/her own view, or does on have the "Buddhist" view. What do you mean? That since one might not have the right understanding of the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha yet, that therefore, when...

Re: Abusing the Buddha

Take what ? They are offending Buddhism, not you. Depends on how much one identifies with Buddhism or being part of it or considers it relevant. I think that the feeling identified with Buddhism, is a good starting-point to work on; does one have his/her own view, or does on have the "Buddhist...

Re: Abusing the Buddha

I really don't see it as an issue. It seems like an issue inasmuch that under the name of Buddhism, they are teaching and doing things that don't seem to be Buddhist. When one sees others abusing Buddhism - or at least it seems like they are abusing Buddhism ... What they produce is "abused Bu...

Re: Abusing the Buddha

For those who don't wish to search for it: Abusing the Buddha is the article. It seems to be discussing the phenomenon of mindfulness being applied to achieve worldly goals apart from the eightfold path. Please correct if I'm wrong, but the picture in the article, I dont' think the figure in the ph...

but someone gains health in return for the money If they don't have(/pay) money they wouldn't get better "health". Is that an ideal/good situation ? Can/should a doctor refuse to help people in medical need, if he does not get any money ? Yes our society depends on money to measure wealth...
