Re: If there was no Theravada, which tradition would you pick?

I tried to go practice other schools just to "stick my toes in" to see what they were like, I would have to go in the secular humanist camp as well.

I guess when one is home they are home

Re: New book... ('A Comprehensive Manual of Abhidhamma')

Greetings!

I have this book, I have to admit it looks pretty technical but I am excited to get started on it and I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say about it.

Where I live temples are in very short supply, so I am looking to go on my first ever retreat. Yep, after about 10 years of practice I never been on a retreat. Now I am looking to go. I was wondering where would be a good place, in the U.S. to go. Thanks in advance, Metta, Kat :anjali: edit to add: ...

Re: Maintaining daily mindfulness

I have a watch that beeps every hour, when the watch goes off it is time for a mindful breath. Regardless of where I am or what I am doing. Now if I am giving a speech (which my work sometimes calls for) I just stay mindful of the beep.

Hello!

I live in the southern part of the US and tend to to study independantly. I look forward to talking with everyone and I am over joyed to be here....

Hello friends, first time poster here, although I feel I know alot of you from other boards. :anjali: I tend to keep things simple on those days. I don't wear make up or perfume of any sorts, keep my clothes simple, no jewlery (sp?). My non buddhist hubby watches TV, on those days I usually read dha...
