Re: euthanasia

She was sick for a few weeks, prolonged with medicines. when I went to work she was still purring in response to petting, but when I got back from work she was gone....

Re: Eel wriggling vs inappropriate attention?

if I remember correctly, the eel-wriggler is in the context of a discussion on kamma and rebirth (do actions have free will or determinism? do actions have results in this life and the next?) Buddha did not put refection on actions and their results in the category of inappropriate attention, so the...

Re: Corporate mindfulness is bullsh*t

THANKS FOR THE ARTICLE, and thanks, Ben, for sharing. When the Buddha looked at corporate America, how much dust would he see on the eyes? Which teaching would he start with? Probably generosity and morality, with mindfulness supporting those actions. The American obsession with diet and exercise ha...

Saakon is from the Sanskrit sākalya , meaning 'universal', but in Thai usage it tends to imply 'western'. tha...

Thai translation help

I'm a musician and tempted to title a collection of music "farang music". How would I say "music" in Thai? Also, any suggestion for synonyms would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Asking a coworker if they are Buddhist

Asking a coworker if they are Buddhist? NO Asking a friend (who happens to be a coworker) if they are a Buddhist? Probably OK. Ben is right that this piece of information is irrelevant to them being an admirable friend. I have respected many people who come from social groups that, as a whole, I do ...

Bhikkhu, Regarding the unwholesome Kama for re-gifting alcohol: would it be permissible to simply tell your friend the story of your dad giving you alcohol that you can't drink, and when they say, "would you please give me the alcohol," would you at that point be acting in wholesome service to your ...
